All-military Oncology Specialized Center:
The Oncology Department of Bayi Hospital was founded in 1974, and has been preparing for the establishment of the All-military Oncology Specialized Center according to the requirements of the headquarters since 1978, and has obtained the approval for the official naming and listing. The Army Oncology Center now has 5 departments and 9 administrative units, including 3 wards of Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Biological Oncology Center, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Radiotherapy, Laboratory and Editorial Department of Clinical Oncology Magazine, etc. The departments which are closely connected and cooperated with the Center also have Radiology, Pathology, Special Diagnosis and Laboratory. The Army Cancer Center has 208 medical and nursing technicians of all kinds***. The old, middle-aged and young generations of each department work in unity and cooperation with each other, and there are a lot of talents, which have formed a reasonable echelon of technical backbone with great potential; the leaders of the disciplines are rich and strong, with good professional skills and a strong sense of innovation, and they have a very high popularity. The specialized equipments are complete and reasonable. The total value of medical equipments in the whole hospital is more than RMB 220 million, among which the specialized equipments in the Oncology Center have reached more than RMB 90 million, which can better satisfy the needs of experimental research and postgraduates' teaching work in oncology.
The Army Cancer Center has obvious specialty characteristics and clear major direction. It has undertaken a series of scientific research projects such as the National Science and Technology Tackling Project, the Key Project of "863" Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Key Project of the Army, etc., which have strengthened the competitiveness of the discipline. The main technology of the center has reached the national advanced and leading level of the army, and enjoys good academic reputation and attractiveness of the specialty.
