It is located in the northwest of Chongqing City and the southeast of the Sichuan Basin, at the junction of the hills in central Sichuan and the parallel ridges and valleys in eastern Sichuan. It borders Bishan County in the southeast, Tongnan and Dazu County in the west, Yongchuan City in the south, and Hechuan City in the north. The maximum distance between the east and west of the county is 48 kilometers, and the maximum distance between the north and south is 62 kilometers. The total area is 1343 square kilometers. The cultivated land area is 46,651 hectares.
