Combined with the 13-digit object classification area (allowing for up to 8,192 inventory units), each plant can be numbered for 140,737,488,355,328 or over 140 trillion different individual items. This far exceeds the production capacity of the world's largest consumer goods manufacturer.
(3) EPC-64 Type III
In addition to some of the larger companies and those that are applying the UCC.EAN coding standard, the intention is to extend EPC to a wider range of organizations and industries in order to facilitate the EPC application process.
