The rescue team was led by Zhao Heping, deputy director of the China Earthquake Administration, and consisted of 49 people, including search, rescue, medical personnel and earthquake experts.
This rescue operation is the fourth time that the China International Rescue Team has carried out international rescue since it went to Algeria, Iran and Indonesia in 2003 and 2004 respectively.
