What is "64-row CT"?

Examination of the coronary arteries of the heart

1. 64-row spiral CT is a new means of diagnosing coronary artery disease, and is no less effective than coronary angiography. Its biggest advantage is that it is non-invasive, patients only need to inject 60-80 ml of contrast medium into the vein, it can clearly show the three-dimensional image of the coronary arteries.

2. It is characterized by a high negative predictive value, i.e., if the 64-row spiral CT is normal, the coronary angiogram will also be normal. Another advantage is that the price is much lower than coronary angiography, and it can be examined several times to understand the occurrence and development of coronary atherosclerosis, and it can also be compared with the effect of drug treatment before and after.

3. The biggest disadvantage is that when serious stenosis of the coronary arteries is found, it is necessary to intervene again after coronary angiography: for those with renal impairment, the contrast agent may cause aggravation of the injury.
