On November 9, the Swedish TV station reported that the Stockholm Administrative Court issued an interim injunction against the Swedish Postal and Telecommunications Authority for restricting Huawei from bidding on the 5G spectrum auction.
This so-called restrictive clause, issued by the Swedish Post and Telecommunications Authority on October 20, reads that companies participating in the 5G spectrum auction in November are not allowed to use Huawei and ZTE equipment, and that the equipment being used must be replaced before 2025. In the face of these unreasonable terms, Huawei chose to appeal, asking the Stockholm Administrative Court to issue an interim injunction.
Today, it seems that Huawei's ability to get a fair chance to compete is closely related to its own fightback. However, according to SCOTUS News, this time Huawei was once suppressed by the restrictive clauses, or related to a large and mysterious family behind Sweden - Wallenberg.
So where exactly is the Swedish Wallenberg family?
"If you want to establish contact with the Swedish government, the first thing to do is to establish contact with the Wallenberg family," a phrase often used to describe the Wallenberg family's influence in Sweden.
The Wallenbergs were the founders of the Swedish Nordea Bank (SEB), which was named after UBS. While UBS seems to be a much bigger name, it was an alliance of many banks, and the Wallenbergs, on their own, had almost dominated the Swedish financial market, thanks to the unique vision of the rich generation of André Oskar Wallenberg.
In the 1850s, Sweden's industrialization wave rose, providing broad prospects for the development of the financial industry. As Swedish law prohibited the private operation of the financial industry at that time, Andrei, who had been planning for the banking industry for a long time, announced the establishment of Sweden's first private bank - Stockholm Private Bank, which is the predecessor of the Nordea Bank (SEB), known as Sweden's first modern bank.
From that time onwards, the Wallenberg family continues to this day has nearly two hundred years of history, and has become one of the world's largest wealth family. In fact, the Wallenbergs have expanded their business to include mobile communications, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, air transportation, and more, not only through Nordea, but also through numerous acquisitions.
It has been reported that the Wallenberg family is behind telecom giant Ericsson, home appliance maker Electrolux, machinery and equipment giant ABB, pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, arms maker Saab, and SAS, the largest airline in the Nordic countries, etc. At the end of the twentieth century, the Wallenberg family accounted for more than 40% of the Stockholm stock market share, and rumors were circulating that the Swedish stock market should be called the Va market. Stockholm stock market share of more than 40%, and rumor has it that "the Swedish stock market should be called Va market" comments.
Zhao Junjie, a researcher at the Institute of European Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that "from the perspective of market competition, the development of the Swedish 5G communications company Ericsson is facing pressure from both China and the United States, not only Huawei's strong rivals, but also the U.S. Qualcomm squeeze. Ericsson surface to see the first global orders, in fact, Huawei and other suppressed to have the opportunity to take advantage of."
It is interesting to note that, at the same time as the Swedish ban on the use of Huawei, Ericsson took then to China Telecom orders, at the time triggered a hot debate, and even rumors of "not cancel the order to change the service provider" said. In fact, China's three major carriers signed a 5G contract have Ericsson a lot of share.
The eye of the APP shows that Ericsson (China) Limited was founded in 1994, the current registered capital of 64.791 million U.S. dollars, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish Ericsson Limited, and in Guangdong, Chongqing, Nanjing and other places have set up branches.
In addition, the business scope of Ericsson (China) includes investment in the field of communication products and their parts and components industry; the establishment of scientific research and development centers or departments in China, engaged in research and development of products related to communication technology, transfer of research and development results and the provision of corresponding technical services, etc.
In addition, the business scope of Ericsson (China) includes investment in the field of communication products and their parts and components industry.
In 2019, Ericsson's revenue in China reached $1.9 billion, or about 12.6 billion yuan. And according to the 2020 three-quarterly report released by Ericsson, Ericsson's sales amounted to 57.5 billion Swedish kronor, about 44 billion yuan, while the net profit was 5.6 billion Swedish kronor, about 4.3 billion yuan.
In response, Ericsson said outright in its earnings report that sales could have grown 7% year-over-year, largely benefiting from 5G sales in mainland China. In addition, as the 5G contracts in mainland China have been formulated as planned, they not only contributed positively to the third quarter profits, but are expected to boost them further.
In fact, the Wallenberg family has a big presence in China.
Not only is Ericsson in China to earn a lot of money, the Wallenberg family has a layout in China AstraZeneca, ABB, Electrolux and other companies under the name of the same harvest. Some media roughly estimated that the Wallenberg family-based Swedish enterprises, annual sales in China can be more than 100 billion yuan.
In the above enterprises, the most familiar to the Chinese public, in addition to Ericsson, is AstraZeneca. AstraZeneca is a global biopharmaceutical company with a focus on cardiovascular, metabolic diseases, oncology, respiratory, digestive and renal diseases in China.
The market in the State Drug Administration to AstraZeneca and other key words search, appear for hypertension, stable angina pectoris felodipine extended-release tablets, for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, metoprolol tartrate tablets, as well as injectable ace omeprazole sodium and so on dozens of different specifications of the drug.
Eye of the sky APP shows that AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was founded in 1993, with a registered capital of 91.2 million U.S. dollars, mainly engaged in the development and production of lyophilized powder injections, tablets, hard capsules, imported drugs in sub-packaging, self-supporting and acting as an agent for import and export of all kinds of goods and technologies. In 2019, AstraZeneca's sales in China amounted to nearly $4.9 billion, or about 32 billion yuan, up 35% year-on-year, accounting for about 21% of its global performance.
ABB (China) Co., Ltd. was founded in 1995, with a registered capital of $140 million, is a wholly owned subsidiary of ABB Assia Brown-Berfari Ltd.(Switzerland), and controls dozens of related subsidiaries in China. Although the ABB website does not give its 2019 sales in China, but directly stated that China is the group's second largest market in the world, and more than 90% of sales revenue in China from locally manufactured products, systems and services.
The third quarter of 2020 showed that ABB realized orders of $6.1 billion in the first three quarters of the year, down 9%. Among them, the European market order book fell 9%, the Americas market order book fell 14%, Asia, the Middle East and Africa market order book fell only 1%, but the Chinese market is still strong growth, up 7% year-on-year.
Compared to the two "giants" mentioned above, Electrolux's performance in recent years has been a little bleak, even though its sales in 2004 exceeded $16 billion, surpassing the $100 billion mark coveted by countless domestic home appliance companies at the time, and occupying 25% of the world's home appliance market. In comparison, Midea Group sales broke 100 billion in 2010, while Gree Electric is 2012.
In the most brilliant period, Electrolux refrigerator sales share once reached 10% of the Chinese market, accounting for all foreign refrigerator brands 1 / 3. In the encounter "Waterloo", Electrolux global President and CEO still state that. "We made a mistake in the development of China", and re-adjust the positioning of the Chinese market, take the high-end route. But even so, Electrolux today in China's sales have been less than Gree and the United States zero.
It can be said that, whether it is the telecommunications giant Ericsson, pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, or machinery and equipment giant ABB, for them, the Chinese market is an important contributor to their performance, and there is a long-term positive trend, even if it was once frustrated Electrolux also do not want to lose this huge market.
The market found that the time of the above companies to enter China, more in the 1990s before the mid-1990s, in China to make money for dozens of years, to say that the sentence earns a lot of money is not too much.
