Absorbable surgical sutures are made of medical polymer materials, of which common materials include PolyglycolicAcid (PGA) and Polycaprolactone (PCL). The materials are biocompatible and biodegradable, and can be absorbed and metabolized by the body over a period of time without the need for surgical removal. Absorbable surgical sutures are suitable for soft tissue suturing and ligature, but not for some special surgeries, such as cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, microsurgery or ophthalmic surgery.
