In every person's life, there are many important things that we will encounter, and whenever we encounter these huge turning points in our lives, we will also have very memorable experiences. Generally speaking, after a couple gets married, they would want to have a child of their own, however, due to some physical factors, therefore, some couples are not successful in having children. With the development of time, nowadays, the medical level of our society is constantly improving, and those couples who were infertile before are also able to get other ways to have children with the help of modern technology.

When it comes to in vitro fertilization (IVF), I'm sure we're all strangers to it. The emergence of this technology has given many infertile people the chance to become parents. But in the course of Chinese medical community's exploration of IVF, our experts have encountered many obstacles. So what kind of life is China's first test-tube baby, born thirty-two years ago, leading today?

The first test-tube baby in mainland China was Zheng Mengzhu, who was born on March 10, 1988.

A woman called Zheng Guizhen was infertile at the time because of certain problems with her fallopian tubes. After getting married, she never had her own children, and she didn't give up her expectations of having children until she was thirty-eight years old.

On one occasion, Zheng Guizhen heard a news report on the radio about the development of IVF technology at the North Medical Third Hospital, and she saw the hope of getting pregnant, and even though she was already older, she always looked forward to becoming a mother.

Although Zheng Guizhen didn't know what IVF technology actually was, and people around her had never done IVF in the days before, the couple decided to come to Beijing and find Professor Zhang Lizhu to take part in the IVF trials in order to be able to have a child.

After examining Mr. and Mrs. Zheng Guizhen's bodies, Zhang Lizhu came up with a very innovative idea, which was to open up the abdomen to retrieve the eggs. Although this type of egg retrieval is relatively common in modern society, many people did not trust such an operation in the society at that time. After all, in those days, China's level of development was not very high, and people's thinking was more conservative, such as assisted reproduction from abroad, can not be accepted by the majority of the country. In traditional Chinese thinking, the birth of a child is a matter between the husband and wife, and if outsiders are involved, it will also have a certain impact on the future development of the family.

At that point in time, Zhang Lizhu put in a lot of effort to be able to successfully retrieve the eggs. Since the egg retrieval needle equipment was not very advanced, Zhang Lizhu also encountered many difficulties in the process of egg retrieval, however, even with all the obstacles, Zhang Lizhu's team did not give up on it. Under the continuous efforts, finally, Zhang Lizhu's team successfully found Zheng Guizhen's eggs and completed the in vitro fertilization.

After the fertilized egg began to divide, Zhang re-transplanted it into Zheng Guizhen's uterus, and after seven weeks of waiting, the fetus survived.

After learning the news, Zhang's team and Zheng were thrilled that this was the first successful IVF in China, and that the success of the experiment represented a major advance in Chinese medical technology. On March 10, 1988, Zheng Mengzhu was officially born, and at that time, in order to show her gratitude to Professor Zhang Lizhu, Zheng Guizhen also decided to add the word "zhu" to the child's name.

According to Zheng Mengzhu's parents, after the birth of the child, there is no abnormalities, in eight months, Zheng Mengzhu learned to call mom and dad, and in a year and a half, she began to learn to walk. It is understood that in Zheng Mengzhu twenty-one years old, she was admitted to the Xi'an Xijing College, and after graduation, she also came to the three hospitals in the North, and became a staff member of the hospital's reproductive medicine center.

According to Zheng Mengzhu, she was born here, and she hopes to contribute to the hospital through her own efforts.

Thirty-two years have now passed since Zheng Mengzhu's birth, and she has used her health to prove to everyone that IVF is feasible.

Conclusion

While Zheng Mengzhu was met with a lot of skepticism at the time of her birth, we can see from the subsequent development that China's IVF technology is not flawed. With the help of modern medical technology, many infertile couples have new hope, and for the country's population turnover, the emergence of IVF technology has also provided great help.

With the development of the times, the level of medical care in our country is also improving, and I believe that in the coming days, more advanced technologies will also appear and provide us with a better life.
