Transport 5 (Y-5)
It is a light multi-purpose single-engine biplane transport aircraft produced in China, which was successfully manufactured in China on December 23, 1957, according to the drawings of the An-2 aircraft designed by the Antonov Design Bureau of the former Soviet Union and was once known as the "Toyotomi No. 2".The Y-5 adopts a semi-crustal metal structure, a rear three-point fixed landing gear, and a normal biplane aerodynamic layout, with its landing gear using large-travel oil-hydraulic shock absorbers. The Y-5 had a semi-monocoque metal structure, rear three-point fixed landing gear, and a normal biplane aerodynamic layout, and its landing gear used large-stroke oil-hydraulic shock absorbers and low-pressure tires, allowing it to take off and land on airstrips. Its early power plant is a domestic nine-cylinder star-shaped air-cooled piston engine, rated at 820 hp. The Y-5 aircraft is a safe, reliable, high-performance, multi-purpose light aircraft, and has good economy, simple use and maintenance, safety and reliability, etc., the Y-5 is not only able to fly at low altitude, used for agricultural locust killing, seeding, fertilizer, forest protection and firefighting, geological survey, prospecting, medical rescue, civil aviation passenger and air ambulance, and the Y-5 is also used as an aerospace aircraft. Y-5 is not only capable of low altitude flight for agricultural locust extermination, pest control, fertilizer sowing, forest protection and fire-fighting, geological survey, mine prospecting, medical rescue, civil aviation passenger and cargo transportation, military training of paratroopers and parachute jumping, etc., but it is also capable of high altitude flight for high-altitude atmospheric sounding and aeronautical surveying with the addition of turbocharger. If installed with water flight equipment, it can be used as a seaplane.
The main types of the Y-5
are cargo, passenger, agricultural, parachute and air support, and rescue. In the touching "for sixty-one class brothers" in the air rescue mission is the Y-5 aircraft; in the death of Premier Zhou Enlai, the Y-5 aircraft has undertaken the task of the Premier's ashes to the motherland north and south of the Yangtze River, now, this has a special significance of the aircraft is stored in the Air Force Aviation Museum at the foot of the small Tangshan Mountain, Beijing, for everyone to visit. There are still many modifications of the Y-5 active in agriculture, forestry and other industries.Y-5 dimensions
The Y-5 has an upper wingspan of 18.76 meters, a lower wingspan of 14.236 meters, a length of 12.74 meters, a height of 6.10 meters, an upper wing area of 43.6 square meters, and a lower wing area of 28.0 square meters.Y-5 weight data
