1. How to travel to Taiwan
You can travel to Taiwan by boat!
2. How to travel to Taiwan conveniently
First of all, prepare the admission pass. Only with documents can you enter and exit the country. Secondly, make a choice based on where you want to visit and then decide on the number of days to travel. It is generally recommended to arrange at least 10 days of free travel around the island. The 7-8 days around the island seen in group tours on the market are based on the rhythm of the road and are suitable for various types of travel. If you really want to play well, you should spend a few more days. If time is limited, it can only be arranged within a week. It is recommended to choose 2-3 cities or major destinations to visit, which will be more suitable. As for other related issues such as accommodation, transportation, Internet access, foreign exchange exchange, and clothing, I suggest you check out Ctrip or the travel guide communities of major platforms, or consult Ctrip’s local guides, and you will get practical information.
Two. I just finished my trip in June this year, so I can only give you a reference based on my own expenses: 1. Air tickets: Round-trip air tickets from Guangzhou to Taipei are about 2,000 yuan/person; 2. Hotels: Hotels in Taiwan are not very expensive, and five-star hotels cost about 1,000-3,000 yuan/night. I live in the middle class, there are more than 500 people in Chiayi and Taichung, and about 800 people in Jiufen. Conditions are OK. The Ho Yi Hotel (Minsheng Hall) in Taipei seems to cost more than 800 per night and is a 4-star hotel, but the decoration is new enough and the service is very good. There are also big hotels that really need special recommendation. Such a historical building, formerly a state hotel, has excellent hardware and only costs about 1,200 yuan (including breakfast). In this way, our per capita accommodation cost is about 2,000 yuan (6 nights and 7 days); 3. Transportation: I rented a car for 3 days and drove it myself, and the gas cost was about 4,000 yuan per day. It took a subway taxi in Taipei 4 days ago. Total: about 1,300 yuan per capita; 4. Other food, drinks and entertainment: Consumption in Taiwan is really not expensive compared to that in China, and the Alishan and Maokong cable cars are still very cheap. By living frugally, you can have enough food and clothing with 50 to 500 yuan per person. The 7-day guarantee makes a difference! 5. Anyway, we have 4 adults and 1 child together for 7 days. The total cost was about 30,000, and it’s quite leisurely. Young people can save more money and have more time. Hope this helps.
3. Where to start when traveling to Taiwan
Taiwan dollars are used in Taiwan, and US dollars are not very practical. You can also swipe your card there to exchange money directly. Nothing to worry about. If you want to have fun in Taiwan, you still need to prepare a good travel strategy.
This time I went to Taiwan to find a self-guided travel agency, which is really different from a travel agency.
Everything is your own decision.
The itinerary was designed by travel experts who are very familiar with the local area based on my requirements. The air tickets are all flights departing at night on major airlines.
The hotel chooses the most distinctive one in the area, and famous hotels can also be arranged. We should not only look at the star rating, but also look at comfort, safety, convenience and features.
The key is that tickets and hotels can be refunded or changed. If there are changes, the losses will be small and I will feel more at ease.
There are also electronic tour guides, which are no different from real tour guides. It can give directions in Chinese, explain in Chinese, remind you what to do, and even know where the toilet is.
Coupled with 24/7 online service, it’s great. If you have any questions, you can consult online at any time. I was able to share the details of my trip with travel experts along the way, which was so different from traveling in a group. You can also go to Little Frog to experience it.

5. How to get a tourist visa from Taiwan
First of all, you need to have two documents (different from going to Hong Kong and Macao, you only need a Hong Kong and Macao pass), a Taiwan pass and a Taiwan entry pass.
That is, the Communist Party allows you to go out (Taiwan Pass), and the Kuomintang allows you to come in (Taiwan Pass). In addition, to go to Taiwan for independent travel, you must visit several mainland cities that have opened for independent travel. Chongqing is one of these cities. If you don’t know a friend and don’t belong to a city where you can travel independently, you should stick to a group tour.
If you want to save money by traveling, it is best to save money by traveling in a group. Don't go there during the tourist season. Relatively speaking, the price will be much cheaper, and there are many interesting places, such as (Nantou County Clean Farm, Ximen Staring, Fengjia Night Market, Anping Castle), etc. When you sign up for a tour group, it's best to have a travel plan and choose your favorite route.
Go there as soon as possible to exchange Taiwan dollars. It's enough to change about NT$3,000. It’s fine to pay by card for some things, and it’s not safe to carry too much cash.
When crossing the road in Taiwan, be sure to pay attention to the red lights. As long as there is a zebra crossing when crossing the road, you must obey it, otherwise you will be fined a lot of money if you are caught. Motorcycles (motorcycles) are all over the streets in Taiwan, and they are very fast. When crossing the road, you must look good and pay attention to safety.
There are many hot and humid insects there, so it’s best to take some insect repellent.
Be sure to go to the duty-free shop. You can buy many cheap bags, branded jewelry, clothes, cosmetics, etc.
If you want to buy specialty products from Taiwan, you can visit a few more stores and compare prices. The shops there clearly mark the prices, and there is basically no counter-offering.
July to September is the typhoon-prone season and also the natural disaster-prone season in Taiwan. Try to avoid this period when traveling.
When traveling, you should properly keep your personal travel documents and make copies of them, which can be kept together with photos and original documents. If any accidents such as loss or theft occur, you should immediately report it to the tour leader and report to the Taiwan Cross-Strait Tourism Association.
Okay! Speaking of which, I like to follow,
6. Where to go when traveling in Taiwan
Moon Lake: Sun Moon Lake itself is free, but after entering, there will be various ticket combinations, you can choose according to your own needs of cruise routes to choose from. Booking online will be cheaper than buying on site. For example, if you want to take the cable car to Sun Moon Lake, the round trip cable car costs about NT$300. There are also other different fare combinations that you can choose on the spot. It is recommended to take a total of eight trails around the lake in one day, each of which can provide you with a different view of Sun Moon Lake.
Note: The first is the opening and closing times of the pier. The cruise ticket is NT$300 and the interval is 30 minutes. There are three main piers: Youshuishe Pier (9:00-17:00), Dashao Pier (9:15-17:15), and Xuanguang Temple Pier (9:30-17). Eat tea eggs. If you don't you will regret it.
02
Kenting: I happened to see an idol drama called Kenting Sunny. A long time ago. I also saw the blue sky, passionate waves, and passionate life. I feel I must go there to feel the colorful scenery, romantic beaches and miss my youth!
03
Kaohsiung: Kaohsiung is a city that is very suitable for cycling and is also a city of seafood! In the city, Kaohsiung is dominated by city scenery, with a heart of love, overlooking the 85 buildings, the beautiful MRT Island Station, and the Aozi Forest Park that allows you to witness the wisdom and ingenuity~ Kaohsiung's MRT is very simple, there are only two For the horizontal and vertical lines, most scenic spots are located around the MRT station exits, which is very convenient; Kaohsiung's transportation routes are also very simple, just follow the horizontal and vertical avenues of the MRT lines through the city. In terms of natural scenery, Xiziwan and Cijin are must-see places!
04
Hualien: If you are traveling independently, if you like to experience the perfect integration of nature and humanity, you must not miss Hualien when you come to Taiwan! It is recommended to start from Taipei and travel freely by taking the Taiwan Railway, which is a coastal railway. Traveling for a few hours was a total pleasure. When you arrive in Hualien, friends with an international driver's license can rent a motorcycle. Otherwise, there are taxis in many places here that can be chartered to Taroko and other distant places (it is best to rent a car to go to these places, a car costs about NT$3,000, and it is more cost-effective for more people) . However, I still recommend renting a motorcycle or bicycle to explore Hualien city on the first day, and it is definitely worth it to experience the customs and customs of Hualien. You can consider a seaside B&B, and rent a car to go to Taroko the next day. The scenery along the way is absolutely first-class, and the driver will explain each scenic spot to tourists in detail. However, there are often rockfalls in Taroko, so it is not recommended to go when it rains. The rest needs to be experienced by yourself! There is only one thing that is certain, Hualien must have gone to a place she still wants to go back to!
From 2010 to 2010, there were too many tourist attractions in Taiwan to count, such as Pioneer Sun and Moon Cave, Xiaonan Giant Forest Group, Quping Ruins, Wuling, Nengshan, Aowanda National Park, Cuifeng Scenic areas, Yushan National Park, Lulinshan Natural Park, Zhushan Ladder, Wucai Lake, Shuanglong Waterfall, Dazhu Lake Bird Sanctuary, Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area, Penghu, Penghu. Among them, the most famous and popular attractions are Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, Hualien, Kenting, Penghu, and Laila.
Let us introduce them one by one:
Sun Moon Lake: Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area is located in Shuishe Village, Yuchi Township, Nantou County. It is the largest freshwater lake in Taiwan, so some people call it Sun Moon Lake. Haizi or Shuishe Haizi. This pool was named Water and Sand Company because of its thin mist and rippling water waves. It is surrounded by numerous mountains, with an altitude of 748 meters and an area of ??116 square kilometers. The entire pool is bounded by Lalu Island (Guanghua Island), with the moon arc to the south and the sun wheel to the north. Therefore, it was renamed Sun Moon Lake with thousands of scenes on its surface. It is an excellent natural lake with 921 large lakes.
Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area - Visit Sun Moon Lake
In 2014, Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area was listed by the Tourism Bureau as one of the popular tourist attractions suitable for senior citizens. Its main appeal is short-distance driving, slow walking, soft food and long-term waiting for sightseeing, emphasizing health, fun, nature and accessibility, and planning a slow life leisure tour to encourage the elderly to travel and experience different domestic tourism. You can choose to take a yacht, hike, bike, etc. Sun Moon Lake has four public piers including Shuishe Pier, Dashio Pier, Chaowu Pier and Xuanguang Temple Pier. Generally speaking, it takes about two hours to get to the lake. You can rent a boat at the pier and spend romantic time with your intimate partner. In recent years, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Management Office has planned several cycling routes, among which the road around the lake is the best. The road around the lake is about 33 kilometers long.
It is recommended to use bicycles as the main means of transportation and take the scenic spots along the way as a day trip for parents and children. This way, not only can you keep fit, but you can also leisurely browse the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake. There are two ways to travel around the lake: clockwise or counterclockwise. Walking clockwise around the lake is very close to the lake, mainly to appreciate the water on Yueyue Lake. However, it is also more dangerous than counterclockwise because it is on the outside of the road. Going counterclockwise around the lake will block the view of oncoming traffic, making it more difficult to enjoy the color of the lake on the surface of Sun Moon Lake.
Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area - Tourist Attractions
Xiangshan Visitor Center: Embracing Sun Moon Lake as an image, the architecture and natural environment coexist, and it has the functions of a visitor center and a scenic area management office . The smooth lines of the building itself, the green of the lake, the green of the lawn, the blue of the sky, the grayish simplicity of water mold, etc. Sun Moon Lake has different scenery and beauty due to the dusk, rain and dew in the morning, and the change of seasons.
Yida Pier: only 900 meters away from the Sun Moon Lake Cableway. It is one of the four piers in Sun Moon Lake. It was originally the main residence of the Thao people and was originally named Dehuahui. Later, it was planned as a 328-square-foot deer hunting market, offering special exhibitions of local farmers, indigenous cuisine, and handmade art at Sun Moon Lake.
Sun Moon Lake Bicycle Path: It was selected as one of the top ten most beautiful bicycle paths in the world by CNNGO, a lifestyle and travel website. Cycling is the most recommended way to experience the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake and surrounding attractions. You can freely adjust your itinerary to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake and coastal cultural customs.
Frog Head Trail: The trail is located on a 500-meter-long elevated plank road between Dazhu Lake and Yishao, with a drop of about 60 meters. There is a frog statue and car parking lot at the entrance, and the end point is the circular circulation line of the waterfront area. The frog on top of the Arhat is placed at the edge of the pool and is also an observation indicator of water level fluctuations. There are lush trees along the way, such as bamboo forests and ferns, which are full of life while walking.
Sun Moon Lake Ropeway: Taiwan’s first BOT-built ropeway, with a total length of 1,877 meters. The starting and ending stations are located in Sun Moon Lake and Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village respectively. The ride time is about 7 minutes, providing a high-altitude panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake and Formosan culture. The transportation between the village and Sun Moon Lake is convenient.
Lalu Island: Located in the center of Sun Moon Lake, it is the dividing line of Sun Moon Lake. It is a must-see place for tourists and the holy resting place for the ancestors of the indigenous Thao people. There was originally a Yuexia Laoren Pavilion on the island, but the area was reduced due to the 921 earthquake and long-term wave intrusion. The exhibition hall has been moved to Dragon Phoenix Palace and Sun Moon Lake, and Lalu Island has been designated as an aboriginal area, restricting outsiders from landing on the island.
Confucian Temple: Built in 1938 and rebuilt in 1969, it is a palace-style building from the Northern Dynasties of China. It is divided into three main halls: Kaiji Yuanzu, Wenchang Emperor, Guanjun and Wang. The latter Dacheng Hall is dedicated to Confucius. Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and other gods lived together. The large buildings look even more majestic against the backdrop of the beautiful mountains and clear waters of Sun Moon Lake.
CienPagod
Meihe Garden: Originally a military police camp, it is equipped with a gallery-style pavilion, tables and chairs. It has unobstructed views from a commanding height. Looking down, you can enjoy the vast water surface of Sun Moon Lake, and you can also see tourists traveling on yachts from time to time. There is also a stone staircase that leads to the lake.
Alishan: Alishan National Scenic Area is one of the famous tourist attractions in Taiwan, the most famous of which is Alishan Forest Recreation Area. In addition, sunrise, sea of ??clouds, sunset, forest and railway Alishan are collectively known as the Five Wonders of Alishan and are quite popular tourist attractions. The ancient breakfast and lunch at Fenqihu Old Street at Alishan Relay Station and the tall and majestic sacred trees are things you can’t miss when traveling to Alishan.
The rich ecology of flora and fauna has always been a very important tourist resource in Alishan. There are many world-famous forest resources on the mountain, such as: red cedar virgin forest, rare plant Taiwan orchid, and Alishan Fragrant mountain sacred tree. In addition to forest resources, Alishan also has the cherry blossom season from March to April, the firefly season from April to June, the Bean Festival where the Tsou people of Alishan continue their past life, and the cultural tour of the Tsou people in Alishan during the harvest festival. Held from time to time, they are all must-haves for in-depth tours of Alishan.
Hualien: If you go to Hualien, you must go. If you don’t, I don’t know your son.
Going south along the coast from Isozaki, passing through a nine-hole farm, you can see the Xinji Tunnel passing through broken ridges and steep cliffs, next to the so-called Qinzhizi Cliff. It is full of dangerous rocks and cliffs and is notoriously steep. Before the excavation of the East China Highway, the cliff between Isozaki and Xinshe used to be the communication channel between nearby villages and the outside world. The road is narrow and the wall is narrow, making it difficult to walk. I don't know my son's cliff means cliff, although it is difficult for parents and children to support each other. In order to stimulate the tourism boom, Fengbin Township Office built what is called Taiwan's most thrilling aerial trail on an almost vertical mountain wall. After opening in 2017, it attracted many people to experience it. The entire ancient road is divided into two sections. One section of the original ancient road was reinforced and widened, and the other section of the cliff used steel skeleton and tempered glass to create a transparent glass plank road, about 50 meters away from the sea. It is quite exciting and allows people to enjoy the beautiful sea view and ancient road scenery at their feet.
There is also a very special park called Shameless Park in Hualien. Nanhua Village, located in Anxiang, Hualien County, Hebei Province, was once a smelly abandoned duck hut. Later, it was funded by the Chuyingshan Cultural Exchange Association and local residents were invited to renovate it. At the beginning of the renovation, because it was not taken seriously, it even happened that the landscape stones were maliciously painted with red paint with shameless words. Local residents simply named the park after it, and changed the word into a smiling face to welcome people and grandchildren, symbolizing positive thinking in everything, in order to gather public knowledge and make the countryside more comfortable.
After the renovation, pavilions, pavilions, huts, etc. were built in the Shameless Park. The ground is made of bricks, bamboo, thatch and other materials, and combined with the surrounding Chuying bicycle path, small bridges, rest trails, and ecological nursery rhyme display spaces are planned. It also has the interactive game Kick Down the Bridge. The Taiwanese American Development Association's horse-assisted education center has settled in, and it even launches horse riding experience activities from time to time, so that
Kenting: Shuangliu Village is located in Caopu Village, Shizi Township, Pingtung County. It is named because it is located at the intersection of two major rivers in the upper reaches of Fenggang River. Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area is owned by the Forestry Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan. It covers an area of ??1,600 hectares. The area's forests are lush and green, and the landscape is natural and pristine. The Forestry Bureau developed it into a forest recreation area, which is under the jurisdiction of the Pingtung Forest Management Office of the Forestry Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
The Shuangliu National Forest Tourism Area focuses on the 4-kilometer mountain forest stream scenic area along the Lishuang coast.
Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area is surrounded by green mountains and green waters. The good environment also breeds a rich natural ecology. It is a great place for hiking, forest bathing and ecology enjoyment. In addition to waterfalls, the park also has a visitor center, sunshine lawn, forest classroom, nature education center, Maozi Mountain, Bairong Mountain and waterfall trails. Maozi Mountain is the highest peak of Shuangliu, with an altitude of about 700 meters, and it is about 2.8 from the starting point of the trail to the top of the mountain. km, mostly uphill. Tourists need to check their physical strength before deciding whether to climb the mountain. The Banyan Tree Trail and Waterfall Trail are easy to walk and suitable for the general public to hike. There is a multimedia screening room on the second floor of the visitor center. Explanatory videos are played from time to time to introduce the natural ecology of Shuangliu. In addition, there is no sales department in the park and visitors are not allowed to barbecue, thus maintaining the most original style of nature.
Liyu Volcano, located at the junction of Bandan and Xinyuan Township, is the only mud volcano in Taiwan that can erupt fire. Its eruption time is uncertain, and it seems to be an extinct volcano when it is quiet. When it erupted, flames shot up into the sky, and mud spewed out and flowed in all directions, accompanied by a rumbling sound. The situation is both terrifying and spectacular. The gray mud ponds merged into a large mud pond, which cracked into natural geometric patterns after being exposed to the sun for a long time.
Wanjin Notre Dame Temple is located in Wanjin Village, Wanluan Township, Pingtung County. It is the oldest church in Taiwan and a pilgrimage site for Our Lady in Taiwan. The Holy Land of Wanmu is built with Spanish castle-style buildings using unique Chinese building materials. The temple bell from Spain created another style of the Temple Bell of Wanmu and is a national third-level historic site. Although the Wanmu Temple has experienced natural and man-made disasters, it has Destroyed, but still intact, people can see different religions and cultural customs. Every year on December 8, the Lord's Protection Ceremony attracts many people to make a pilgrimage.
Kimmanmoksa Temple is 45 feet wide, 116 feet long, 25 feet high and 3 feet thick.
The entire building is made of gravel, lime, brown sugar, honey, kapok, refractory bricks of traditional Chinese architecture and other materials to build a thick and hard exterior wall. The Spanish temple bell and Notre Dame sedan chair were carved by Fujian sculptors, and the ground is paved with red bricks to match the original style of the temple. The temple walls made of white lime are clearly visible.
Wankai Church originated in 1861 AD, led by Father Guo Degang of the Spanish Dominion, who preached back and forth from Kaohsiung. Two years later, the first shrine was built. As the number of believers increased, it was destroyed by enemies, thieves, and ravaged many times by Zhu Rong, which not only caused property losses to the church and its members, but also caused fights and disputes. In 1865, an earthquake in the south caused most of the walls of the Wanjin Wanmu Temple to collapse. Fortunately, with the help of the pastor and church members, it was restored to pristine condition. As the scale grew, a new hall was built in 1869. It was finally opened to the public on December 8 of the following year, which became the origin of the celebration. In 1874, Shen Baozhen saw the magnificence of the church and asked the emperor to support missionary work. Emperor Tongzhi personally granted the edict and the main hall was built with stones, which were inlaid on the gables and lintels; in 1984, Pope John Paul II founded Notre Dame Cathedral. It is the largest cathedral after the Vatican. The Notre Dame Temple in Wanjin was renovated in June 2001, and the bell tower was restored to its original state.
Penghu: formerly known as Pinghu, Pengying, Penghai, Xiying, Yidao, and known as Yujia, this is a small island occupied by Europeans in the 16th century. It is named because of the rough waves outside the harbor and the calm waters inside the harbor. Penghu was officially included in the territory of China during the Song Dynasty. After gradual development, Magong Town was changed to a county seat in 1981. Because the county flower is the chrysanthemum of paradise, Penghu is also called Chrysanthemum Island. Penghu is one of the three major outlying islands in Taiwan and the smallest county in Taiwan. It consists of 90 islands in six administrative regions, of which Penghu Island is the largest (City and Hu Township), followed by Xiyu Township, Baisha Township, Wang #039
Rich marine resources promote Penghu tourism prosperity and development. In terms of dynamic water activities, operators of Jibei Island, Pengpeng Beach and Dangerous Cay Island provide exciting water facilities such as banana boats and jet skis, and they can also snorkel or take a glass boat to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the seabed. In terms of static tourism, in addition to the Tianhou Temple, Four Eyed Wells, Tongliang Ancient Banyan Tree, Cross-sea Bridge, and Guanyin Pavilion on Penghu Island, there are also the famous Whale Cave, Xitai Fort, Ergang Settlement, Qimei Shuangxin Stone Lake, Qi Mei Shuang Xin Shi Lake, and the famous Whale Cave on the outlying islands. Meixiaotai Province and other cultural landscapes depict the historical development of Penghu.
There are more than 165 temples in 97 villages in Penghu, and religious activities in Penghu are extremely frequent. There are settlements used to ward off evil spirits everywhere in Wuying, Shanhai Town, Shigandang and other places. The cultural assets of Penghu have formed a unique appearance due to the interaction of ecology, culture and history. For example, ancient temples such as Tianhou Temple, Wusheng Temple, Chenghuang Temple, Guanyin Pavilion, and Baoan Temple; such as Qing Dynasty merchants' guild halls, such as Narcissus Palace, Tongshan Palace, Shengbiao Hall, etc., are all important strongholds with historical preservation value.
According to research by archaeologists, as early as 5,000 years ago to about 4,000 years ago, there were at least several cultures in Penghu, such as the coarse corded pottery culture, the thin corded pottery culture and the plain red and gray pottery culture. Island and other small islands confirm the origin of cultural heritage and also illustrate the close relationship between Penghu and the prehistoric culture found on the southwest coast of Taiwan.
To this day, many villages in Penghu still retain quite complete traditional features, such as ancient low-bone stone buildings, bungalows, and walls made of local materials such as low-bone stone or basalt, which are locally called Cai. The house or Zhai is built to withstand the northeast monsoon. Various buildings showcase Penghu's history and rich cultural features.
The flower of Penghu County is the chrysanthemum - Penghu is known as the Chrysanthemum Island, and fishing is the most important industry in Penghu. Its agricultural products are mainly peanuts and melons, while its minerals are mainly aragonite. It also has unique landscapes such as blue-bottomed bays, colorful coral groups, white and delicate beaches, and majestic black basalt rocks, as well as a cultural feast with unique humanities, arts, customs and customs. Tourists from all over the world who love the ocean and yearn for the authentic taste are welcome to come to Judao to experience the truth, goodness and beauty of Penghu.
