Work content of volunteer service

1. Daily work. We divide the volunteers into three categories and call them escort volunteers, visiting volunteers and patient support group volunteers. In the outpatient clinic, the escort volunteers will queue up for the old, weak and mobility-impaired patients for registration, examination, charging, medicine collection, etc., guide the direction for the patients who are not familiar with the hospital environment, and even accompany them throughout the whole process, etc. In the wards, the visiting volunteers will be assigned to the patients who are not familiar with the hospital environment. In the wards, the visiting volunteers are divided into three groups, namely routine visits, targeted visits and special visits. Routine visits are mainly to greet and care for the patient, wishing the patient a speedy recovery; targeted visits are mainly composed of volunteers who used to be patients, mainly to introduce to the patient the experience, feelings and healing process of their illnesses, to play the role of an example, and to encourage the patient to establish confidence; special visits are mainly aimed at some frustrated, particularly depressed patients, and can be visited several times to give psychological guidance, explanation, comfort, and gradually make the patient establish a relationship with the patient. Special visits are mainly for patients who are depressed, and can return several times to give psychological guidance, explanation, comfort, and gradually build up their confidence and courage to fight against the disease and actively cooperate with the doctors, among which the source of patients for special visits is mainly referred by regular visits and targeted visits by volunteers and their medical staffs. Group volunteers participate in group activities organized by the Social Work Department, which are composed of similar patients, in order to enhance the patients' ability of self-help and mutual help.
