In the afternoon of January 13th, local time, Cai Senming, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan, held a pre-departure mobilization meeting at the residence. Cai Sen pointed out that the medical team went to the remote areas of South Sudan clinic is of great significance, is the best interpretation of the spirit of "fear of hardship, dedication, saving lives, love without boundaries", is the fulfillment of the social responsibility of the medical team and the international obligations of the important important commitment is to show the big country to play a specific performance. All members of the team to unify the understanding of the mind, the trip on the careful arrangements, security attaches great importance to the materials carefully prepared to overcome all kinds of difficulties, to successfully complete the mission of the clinic.
At 7:00 a.m. on the morning of the 14th, all the team members boarded the bus and set off for Juba Airport, full of medical supplies, full of people, the air is filled with excitement, anticipation, anxiety, anxiety, and of course, there is also the ubiquitous dust ......
Juba Airport is not very big, there is only one runway, and a United Nations propeller. small airplane lying quietly in the corner waiting for us.
After a brief security check, we packed and checked in our medical supplies and boarded the commuter plane one by one.
At 9:20am, the plane took off, like people's anxious hearts. In the blink of an eye, the city of Juba is at your feet, and there is a different feeling when you look at Juba from above.
From the air overlooking South Sudan, the Nile River meanders and twists, quietly flowing; the vast wasteland, overgrown weeds; wildfires accompanied by smoke curling up; low grass shacks during the staggered period; bare dirt road pathway traffic.
The plane arrived at Paloch Airport at 10:30 a.m. CPECC leaders were waiting for us on the tarmac, and it was a great feeling to have our relatives in such a remote and barren place.
With CPECC's assistance, we were able to live in a container-converted room surrounded by barbed wire, with a communal cafeteria and a communal restroom, no Internet access, and virtually no cell phone signal, but fortunately there was electricity.
After a short break, we had no time to get used to the local environment, and at 14:30, we set off to CPECC's hospital, the first stop of the clinic, to provide medical treatment for the local people.
The hospital, invested and operated by CPECC, mainly serves the local people who are short of medical treatment, and the treatment is free of charge. In the process of diagnosis and treatment, the deepest feeling is the local people's simplicity and peace of mind, and face the helplessness of the disease.
The relevant leaders of CPECC said that they invested in oil extraction here, which indirectly drove the development of the local economy, but due to the political instability in South Sudan, the economic situation is deteriorating, and the local people are living in hardship, so in the spirit of "China-Africa family" and the spirit of humanitarianism, CPECC invests millions of dollars every year in free medical care, to return to the local people.
The afternoon clinic, *** diagnosed and treated more than 100 people, mainly malaria, pneumonia, trauma, tropical skin diseases. The local people and medical staff rejoiced at the arrival of the medical team.
17:30, the end of the clinic, the team returned to the site, a hasty dinner, we are exhausted. At this time, the sun was slanting in the west, and the banana trees and trilliums had an exotic beauty in the setting sun.
When I wanted to walk around the yard, I was told by the locals that this place is not like other places, there are pythons and belly snakes at night, especially mosquitoes, gadflies and scorpions, so it's better to hide in the house and be safe. Hearing people scared, or huddle in the boarding house for good. This is the first night that I have been able to survive quietly without internet and without a phone.
Outside the window, the moon is in the sky, the dome is like a tripod, occasionally there are a few bats slipping under the shadow of the moon ......
At 8:10 am on the 15th, the second stop of the clinic Paloch Friendship Hospital.
On the way to the hospital, briefly appreciate the original human landscape of Africa. The first time such a short distance contact, can not help but be alarmed. The bumpy dirt road, the wild grass, the acacia trees, the low thatched huts, the barefoot children, the women with plastic buckets on their heads, the waterwheel pulled by the donkeys, the wild dogs roaming around, the cows and goats nibbling on the grass ......
The Paloch Hospital is about twenty kilometers away from the site, and the drive lasts about an hour. The hospital was also built with assistance from CPECC and is fully funded to run. There are more than ten employees in the hospital and it is responsible for the basic medical needs of the tribal people in the surrounding area. Due to lack of maintenance, the medical equipment and infrastructure in the hospital are basically paralyzed.
Our arrival attracted a large number of people, who crowded the already spacious grounds. There are sitting, lying on the ground, there are next to the fire cooking, the scene, like a market, like a picnic, like wandering ......
Busy clinic began, seemingly chaotic scene, but surprisingly quiet during the consultation, before the consultation of the local doctor and pastor began to sermon, are merciful God is everywhere cloud. The local patients are very disciplined and orderly, unlike the domestic chrysanthemums.

Busy, the time is always flying by. In order to see more patients, in the limited time for them to relieve the torment of the disease, all team members can not care about drinking water, not to mention the time to go back to eat, due to the humble let the resident to send the meal over, there is no table and chairs, can only sit on the ground, or stand in the corner of the house, hastily fill up their stomachs.
No rest at noon, the patient is more and more, the sun is hot, the heat is unbearable. People are also dry mouth, do not dare to drink water, not not thirsty, is afraid to drink, because, because there is no toilet here ......
five o'clock to close back to the camp, the dilapidated bus no air-conditioning, in the dirt road grunted coy jumping, outside the dusty, inside the car team members gray, full of fatigue, but we all hearts are We are happy, this day about more than 300 visits, and we feel that we have been rewarded for our efforts. Perhaps this is the "original heart never forget, the mission in the shoulder" it!
16th, the third day of the clinic. The scene is the same, the scenery is different. The only difference is that the day is hotter, more people, we are more tired, and the sense of harvest is stronger ......
Put a picture of African houses to ease the fatigue of vision.
The 17th was a big day. When the clinic was almost over, the Chinese ambassador to South Sudan and local tribal chiefs came to visit us. We were touched and honored.
At 4:00 p.m., we finished the clinic and packed our bags to return to Juba. On the way back, Mr. Xu Shaojun, the head of our internal medicine department, unfortunately contracted malaria, suffered from high fever, chills, and was exhausted. The first time I saw him, he was in a state of shock, and he was in a state of shock, and he was in a state of shock.
Four days and nights, we are personally involved, always want to do something more for the local people, more to stay something. However, this is a drop in the bucket, and cannot fundamentally solve the situation of the people of South Sudan lacking medical care and medication. We hope that South Sudan will slowly change, and that the people of South Sudan will have a basic guarantee of survival. And we, the Chinese medical team in South Sudan, here in just one year, do better than not, do more than less good.
May South Sudan have a better tomorrow! Just like this ubiquitous trillium, it can also bloom brilliantly on this barren land.
