Front-line medical equipment for epidemic prevention

The Spring Festival in the year of Gengzi is destined to be unforgettable for everyone in China, but the Spring Festival holiday, which should be celebrated all over the country, has become a battlefield for the whole people to resist novel coronavirus's epidemic. Medical staff from all directions formed the front line of "anti-epidemic" in Wuhan and Hubei, and more enterprises distributed all over the country actively organized the resumption of production, providing much-needed materials and equipment for this "war of attrition".

Among these enterprises, there are also many "autobots". When masks become the most consumed and scarce materials at present, SAIC-GM-Wuling, BYD, Guangzhou Automobile and other car companies have announced an emergency switch to production and stepped up the production of masks, disinfectant and other protective products. Among them, the slogan shouted by Wuling can especially warm people's hearts: "We will build what the people need."

Corporate social responsibility is not empty talk, and practical actions can really benefit people and society.

With masks, Wuling and GAC went into battle on the same day.

On February 6th, with the help of Liuzhou government, SAIC-GM-Wuling produced masks by rebuilding the production line. Among them, ordinary medical masks 14, N95 4, daily output 1.7 million. It is said that it took only five days from putting forward the idea of making masks to making them, which can be described as strong action and quick response. On the same day, Guangzhou Automobile also sent employees to Guangzhou and Dongguan mask manufacturers to study, in order to prepare for the job of making masks.

BYD's determination: to win this silent war "epidemic"

Two days after the announcement of SAIC-GM-Wuling, BYD also stated that it is ready to join this silent war "epidemic" and inject new impetus into the national "anti-epidemic" victory. In addition to producing masks, they will also produce disinfectants. The daily output of masks is planned to reach 5 million, and the daily output of disinfectant is 50 thousand bottles.

Why can car companies do it by switching to masks?

Some people may ask, why can car companies achieve cross-border production conversion in a short time? Can the masks they produce meet the standard? Although they appreciate the attitude of corporate social responsibility of car companies, the masses are still very concerned about the most practical problems.

First of all, the production of masks needs a clean workshop environment, and many precision parts of cars are also processed and manufactured in very harsh environments, so the garage has the ability to do this after transformation. Secondly, the raw materials needed for masks are the same as some materials on cars. For example, SAIC-GM-Wuling turned the noise-proof cotton processing plant into a workshop for the production of masks because the main material of automobile noise-proof cotton is polypropylene and the production requirements are the same as those of masks. At the same time, Wuling teamed up with Guangxi Deford Group (a company specializing in the production of sound-proof cotton) to further enhance the professionalism of mask raw materials. Today, SAIC-GM-Wuling announced that the first fully automatic "Wuling brand" mask machine in Guangxi was officially launched! The equipment has high operating efficiency and low manufacturing cost, and the output of "Wuling mask" will increase rapidly after it is put into production.

For BYD, they have their own ninth division, which not only has the medical device system certification, but also is originally a OEM medical device, so it can be reassuring in terms of medical professionalism and reliability. In addition, masks will go through many quality inspections by relevant departments before leaving the factory, and can only be supplied to the masses after all the indicators are qualified.

From this point of view, it is not only reliable for car companies to switch to masks, but also not a big modification project for them. The key is to look at the integration of execution and its own quality inspection system.

What kind of experience is it for car companies to turn into masks?

Some people say that car companies do this to ensure the source of income in a special period-since they can't produce cars, masks can make up for the losses. This statement is obviously one-sided and a bit "conspiracy theory". Let's take the mask produced by SGM-Wuling as an example. These masks will be provided to front-line medical staff free of charge, and will also be distributed to front-line employees in the pillar industries of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the rest will finally enter the social market.

Judging from the selling price and output, the profits generated by these masks are far less than those generated by cars (everyone knows the high sales volume of SAIC-GM-Wuling), and the relevant departments said that these enterprises did not use bank loans to carry out epidemic assistance work. For any car company, this is a huge effort-not only to stop the production of normal products, but also to transform workshops and production lines, train and recruit employees, which is obviously difficult to make a decision only from the economic point of view.

Of course, car companies can indeed greatly enhance the brand's influence through such behavior, but we are still willing to believe that the purpose of car companies to change production and work hard is actually the same as that of every "epidemic" fighter who struggles in the front line: I hope to overcome the epidemic as soon as possible and people's lives can return to normal.

More car companies are on the move.

In addition to the above-mentioned car companies that switched to masks, more car companies joined the mighty army of epidemic prevention. Some use overseas logistics channels to urgently purchase medical materials and equipment, some begin to assemble negative pressure ambulances by OEM, and some directly raise donations. By the beginning of February alone, 86 car companies had invested 654.38 billion yuan as national epidemic prevention funds. More automobile brands have also added the functions of vehicle ultraviolet sterilization, composite electronic filter, high-temperature sterilization, etc. to the newly launched products, effectively improving the environmental safety in the compartment and better protecting the health and safety of consumers.

In fact, many car companies have cooperated in the research and development of medical devices, which was originally one of the ways for car companies to improve the technological content of automobiles. For example, Honda has launched Honda? Walking? Assist (Walking Assistant System), an innovative walking assistant health equipment introduced by Honda, is specially designed for the elderly and stroke patients.

On the other hand, it is nothing new for automobile enterprises to mobilize for changing production in wartime. During World War II, there was a precedent for automobile manufacturing enterprises to transform into military industry in the United States. Nowadays, car companies in China have entered a "wartime" state, shouldered the banner of "fighting against epidemic" and tried their best to make practical and effective contributions to preventing the epidemic. In the face of this disaster, the auto market may be cold for a while, but it can't resist the recovery of people's hearts after all.
