The scope of use of Suzhou medical insurance

Suzhou medical insurance is used in the following areas:

1. Retirees resettled in a different place: those who have settled in a different place after retirement and whose household registration has been moved to the place of resettlement;

2. Long-term residents in a different place: those who are living in a different place and meet the requirements of the place where they participate in the insurance policy;

3. Permanent workers in a different place: those who are assigned to work in a different place by their employing units and meet the requirements of the place where they participate in the insurance policy. The last category is the personnel who are referred from other places to other places. The last category is referrals from other places: those who need to be referred to overseas hospitals for treatment due to difficult and serious diseases that cannot be treated by the medical technology and equipment conditions limited to the city of Suzhou and diagnosed by the hospitals at or above the city or county level.

Legal basis: Article 25 of the Social Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China

The state establishes and improves the basic medical insurance system for urban residents.

Basic medical insurance for urban residents is a combination of individual contributions and government subsidies.

The government shall subsidize the portion of individual contributions required by those who are entitled to the minimum subsistence guarantee, persons with disabilities who have lost the ability to work, and elderly persons and minors over the age of sixty from low-income families.

Article 26

The standards of treatment for basic medical insurance for employees, new rural cooperative medical care and basic medical insurance for urban residents shall be implemented in accordance with national regulations.

Article 27

Individuals who have participated in the basic medical insurance for employees and whose accumulated contributions have reached the number of years stipulated by the state when they reach the legal retirement age shall no longer pay the basic medical insurance premiums after their retirement, and they shall enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits in accordance with the state regulations; those who have not yet reached the number of years stipulated by the state may make contributions up to the state's stipulated number of years.
