Characteristic Uses of PCT

PCT as a new species of polyester family, its properties and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) similar to the strength, toughness, and heat resistance of PBT is better than PET. PCT has a high heat resistance, its continuous application temperature range between 130 ℃ ~ 150 ℃, the flexural temperature of 243 ℃ ~ 260 ℃, can replace the PBT as wave soldering board and reflow soldering board in the production of printed circuit boards. It can be used as a substitute for heat-resistant PBT for wave soldering and reflow soldering boards in the production of printed circuit boards.

PCT heat resistance is lower than polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), high-temperature liquid crystal polymers (LCPS) and high-temperature polyamide, but higher than the medium-temperature liquid crystal polymers and other polyesters. However, because PCT also has good toughness, thermal stability, ease of processing, chemical resistance and low hygroscopicity, the mechanical properties, dimensional stability and processing properties of PCT are minimally affected under humid conditions. Therefore, PCT can compete with many polymers such as PPS, LCPS and high temperature polyamides.

PCT has good chemical resistance to solvents used for cleaning, such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, ethanol and aromatic solvents. However, PCT has poor flame retardant properties.

PCT generally exists in 3 basic forms: filled *** blends, *** polyester or molten *** blends.

Filled ****blend PCT with glass fibers and inorganic fillers, and add a variety of stabilizers, flame retardants and other processing aids, making it a high performance material for high-temperature use of the environment.PCT filled ****blend excellent high-temperature performance makes it promising in a variety of engineering applications, especially those requiring short-term resistance to high temperatures.

PCT*** polyesters exhibit a wide range of properties, depending on the particular *** polyester.PCTG (glycol-modified PCT) is a glycol-modified *** polyester with high impact resistance, excellent transparency, high gloss, especially radiation resistance, and excellent chemical resistance. The notched cantilevered impact value of PCTG*** polyester is similar to that of polycarbonate (PC). In addition it is competitive with other pure polymeric esters such as ABS. The properties of this *** polyester allow it to be used in a variety of applications requiring transparency and toughness, such as medical and optical.PCTA (Acid-modified PCT) is an acid-modified *** polyester that can be processed into extruded films and sheets for use in packaging, and PCTA*** polyester films offer excellent transparency, low-temperature flexibility, high tear strength, and chemical resistance. In addition, PCTA *** polyester can be added glass and (or),, inorganic fillers, so that it has high-temperature characteristics, used for double-sided bakeable kitchenware.

Melt*** blends of PCT or PCTG*** polyester with other polymers provide a range of mechanical and thermal properties that can be modified for specialized uses. The most versatile melt **** blends are composed of PCTG*** polyester and PC and exhibit excellent transparency and optical properties such as very good light transmission and very low cloudiness, good chemical resistance and flexibility, and high values for their notched cantilever beam impact strength measurements. Typically, these melt ****blends have properties similar to PC and other PC-based ****blends. Melt ****blends based on PCT and PCTG*** polyesters can have better resistance to certain chemicals than PC and exhibit good gloss and colorability. As a result, these melt*** blends are used in the pharmaceutical industry and in the housings and panels of specialized vehicles.

In summary, PCT and its modified products can be used in the following areas.

(1) Electrical/Electronic: PCT filled ****mixtures are used in junction boxes, sockets, integrated circuit boards, plug and slot board assemblies, relay components, coil holders and wireless communication equipment components. The development trend is miniaturization and application in surface processing technology aids. For example, in the high-temperature assembly process vapor phase and infrared welding and other processing technology equipment. Traditional equipment cover materials are being replaced by high-temperature materials such as PCT.

(2) automotive: due to the PCT **** mixture of high temperature resistance, high strength and chemical resistance, it is used in a variety of automotive engine room mechanical components such as alternator armature and pressure sensitive.

(3) medical devices: *** polyester and melt **** blends have high transparency, good toughness, chemical resistance and radiation resistance, so they are used in a variety of medical devices, such as catheterization systems, bacterial filters, self-sealing water price, ventilation ducting system of the primary use of the parts and medical receiver head.

(4) Instrumentation instruments: solid and dyed *** polyesters and melt *** blends are used in instrumentation instruments such as base plate maintenance nozzles, liquid storage tanks and refrigerator doors and other transparent internal parts. Economically, these polymers provide the transparency, toughness and chemical resistance that eliminates the need for other transparent polymers within a certain range. The new, transparent PCT polymers are characterized by the ability to make higher-grade moldings at a lower price point, making them the latest addition to materials for instrumentation products.

(5) Optical components:*** Polymers and melt*** blends can be used in those applications where transparency and high impact resistance are required, including safety goggles, safety glass frames, face shields, sunglasses, and tooth protectors.

(6) Amusement/Specialty Vehicles: Melt*** blends were initially selected for their impact resistance, chemical and UV resistance, gloss and colorability. Included in these transportation applications are lawnmower covers and side panels. Tractor hoods, grilles and fenders, among others.
