Seamless steel tubes - dimensions, conventional mass (weight)/unit length
1. Scope
This standard applies to DIN 1629 (Parts 1-4), DIN 17172 and DIN 17175, which prescribe the technical conditions for the dimensions and conventional mass/unit length of seamless steel tubes.
The other technical delivery conditions referring to this standard also apply.
This standard defines the range selected from DIN ISO 4200 within which seamless steel tubes are standardized.
Not applicable to precision steel tubes (standard DIN 2391).
2. Other relevant standards

3. Symbols, directive codes
The steel pipe is made of St35, has an outside diameter of 273 mm and a wall thickness of 6.3 mm:
Pipe DIN 2448-St35-273*6.3
When ordering a pipe according to this standard, the The corresponding elements of the instruction code must be selected from the special technical delivery conditions, namely:
- Quantity ordered
- Standard marking
- Technical delivery state -Technical delivery condition
-Material test certificate
-Internal and/or external protection, etc.
According to this standard, 1000m seamless steel pipes, made of St35. Outer diameter 273 mm, wall thickness 6.3 mm, according to the technical conditions of delivery according to DIN 1629 Part 3, with reference to DIN 50049, acceptance test certificate 3.1B:
1000m of pipe DIN 2448-St 35-273*6.3-DIN 1629 Part 3-3.1B
4 Dimensions
In the table of dimensions and conventional mass (weight)/unit length, the outer diameters of steel pipes are arranged in three series according to DIN ISO 4200 and are defined as follows:
Series 1: Pipes whose outer diameters comply with the requirements of the accessories required for the construction of the pipeline (welding moulds, flanges, flange moulds, etc.), and which are standardized or should be standardized.
Series 2: Pipes whose outside diameters meet the requirements of most of the accessories are standardized, but not all
Series 3: Pipes whose outside diameters meet the requirements of applications in special areas, which are usually not standardized accessories, and after a certain period of time some outside diameters are deleted.
The conventional mass (weight)/unit length typed in bold indicates that the outer diameter of the tube is within series 1, with the preferred wall thickness referenced to DIN ISO 4200.
5 Conventional mass (weight)/unit length
Values for the conventional mass (weight)/unit length are taken from DIN ISO 4200.
