You can encrypt memos with a password, face ID or touch ID, thus protecting personal data, such as financial details, medical information or website login information.
Before we start
Update iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
Open Memos in iCloud settings, or make sure you're using a memo stored on your device. Memo accounts synchronized from third-party services such as Gmail or Yahoo do not have some memo functions and cannot be locked.
If you sign in to iCloud with an administrative Apple ID, you can't lock the memo.
Set the memo password
You need to create a password to lock the memo. Please make sure to create an easy-to-remember password. To do this, you need to set a password hint for yourself. If you access iCloud memos on multiple Apple devices, you will use the same memo password to lock and unlock all memos. If you forget your password, Apple can't help you revisit the locked memo, but you can create a new password to lock future memos.
You can create a password in the Settings or Memos application on the device. After locking the memo, it will be automatically password-protected on all your devices. If you use face ID or touch ID to unlock the memo on other devices, you must enter a password, and then enable face ID or touch ID on the device you are using.
If you enable the face ID or touch ID of the memo password, the encryption key used to encrypt the memo will be added to your keychain and can be accessed through your device password. This means that anyone can access your locked memo with your device password. For the highest security, you can choose not to enable the face ID or touch ID of the memo password.
Create a password in the settings.
Go to settings > notes, then tap password.
If you have more than one account, tap the account where you want to create a password.
Enter the password, and then set a password prompt for yourself. If your device supports face ID or touch ID, please enable one of these two functions accordingly.
