China’s poverty alleviation medical assistance project launched

On December 2, 2012, the China Poverty Alleviation Medical Assistance Project sponsored by the Industrial Poverty Alleviation Committee of the China Poverty Alleviation and Development Association was launched in Beijing. Patients with certain diseases such as tumors, liver diseases, diabetes, and uterine fibroids can receive diagnosis and treatment at project-designated hospitals and apply for poverty alleviation medical subsidies ranging from 1,000 yuan to 50,000 yuan.

Shen Laihao, director of the China Poverty Alleviation Medical Assistance Project Management Office, introduced that in order to alleviate the problems of expensive and difficult medical treatment for ordinary people, the Industrial Poverty Alleviation Committee of the China Poverty Alleviation and Development Association established the China Poverty Alleviation Medical Assistance Project Management Office to apply for fundraising Special poverty alleviation medical funds are provided to provide medical assistance to patients. The project has approved more than 200 tertiary-level hospitals with distinctive specialist diagnosis and treatment technologies, as well as the Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Hospital and the Chinese Armed Police Force Hospital as designated hospitals for the project. Patients with tumors, liver diseases, diabetes, uterine fibroids, etc. who are treated in designated hospitals can receive poverty alleviation medical subsidies upon application.

He said that China’s poverty alleviation medical assistance project provides medical subsidies for self-employed individuals, employees of small and medium-sized enterprises, migrant workers and other groups, and is not exclusive of New Rural Cooperative Medical Care and medical insurance reimbursement. Patients can call the China Poverty Alleviation Medical Assistance hotline or log in to the "China Poverty Alleviation Medical Assistance Network" to apply. After review and approval, the poverty alleviation medical subsidy will be directly transferred to the patient's bank account.
