What is a national defense student and how is it different from a regular student?

Defense students are local college students who sign a contract with the army and go directly to the army after graduation.

Defense students are undergraduates recruited by the military (armed police forces) from among the fresh high school graduates of ordinary high schools (including those who meet the conditions for guaranteed admission) who participate in the national college and university entrance exams in advance of the batch according to the needs of the army's construction, as well as reserve military (police) officers selected and trained by the army (armed police forces) from among the college students in the current school. National defense students enjoy national defense scholarships during the school period, complete the required academic and military training tasks and meet the training objectives, obtain the graduation qualification and the corresponding degree, according to the agreement for the enlistment procedures and appointed as military (armed police) cadres.
