The story of Ark: Survival Evolved focuses on a group of men and women who wake up on the shore and find themselves on a mysterious island full of dinosaurs called ARK. The game features a variable weather system in addition to hunting, resource scavenging, item building, farming, research, investigating technology, and building houses to withstand the hot days and freezing nights.

In addition players will need to strategize and tactically tame the various dinosaurs and other primitive creatures that appear in the game and use them to travel across land, sea, air and even into the underworld. Players can utilize the game's in-depth role-playing system to build on their character's strengths and gain access to a variety of items, skills, and pets. Players will also compete with hundreds of other player tribes to survive and ultimately discover the true purpose of the Ark.
More than 80 dinosaurs can be tamed and trained using a variety of strategies, while also breeding dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures that live in complete ecosystems on land, in the sea, in the air, and even in underground caves. In addition to exploring a vast and life-affirming prehistoric environment, figure out ways to survive, grow, and ultimately escape the Ark.
