After expert evaluation in August 2008, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (former Ministry of Personnel of the State) decided to approve the establishment of a postdoctoral research workstation in Xingtai Eye Hospital (No. 43 of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security [2008]) to carry out postdoctoral research work. This is the only medical unit in Xingtai City, and also among the provincial and municipal hospitals in North China, that has been awarded this honor.
At present, Xingtai Eye Hospital has made all the preparations for accepting postdoctoral researchers to work in the hospital in terms of life and work. Xingtai Eye Hospital employs two honorary presidents, Prof. Lin Shaoming of Singapore and Prof. Yuan Jiaqin of Tianjin Medical University, two specially-appointed scholars, Dr. Cao Jingtai and Dr. Wu Li, two researchers of Columbia University Eye Institute, and 48 specially-appointed domestic and foreign experts. There are 266 sets (pieces) of various large equipment. There are 505 health technicians of all levels and types, accounting for 74% of the total number of employees. Among them: 32 chief physicians (medicine, nursing and technology), 49 deputy chief physicians (medicine, nursing and technology), 192 attending (management) physicians (medicine, nursing and technology), 1 full-time education doctor of medicine, 22 masters of medicine. The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been honored by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as one of the key specialties in the 11th Five-Year Plan of China, and has become the only eye hospital in Hebei Province that has been honored with this award. It has six members of national academic organizations and four editorial board members of national core journals.
Over the past few years, it has accepted 2 doctoral students and 28 master's students from Peking University Medical College, Tianjin Medical University, China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xinjiang Shihezi Medical College, Taiwan and other medical schools for internships in our hospital.
Since the early seventies, it has been entrusted by the provincial health department to hold "Hebei province ophthalmology refresher courses" for thirty-four times, training more than 1,000 ophthalmologists in our province and neighboring provinces and cities. Hebei Provincial Eye Disease Treatment Center, Hebei Provincial Ophthalmology Research Institute, Hebei Provincial Ophthalmology Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hebei Provincial Cataract Rehabilitation Guidance Center, and Hebei Provincial Low Vision Rehabilitation Guidance Center are all located in our hospital.
The hospital now has 10 wards and 16 specialized groups, as well as ophthalmology laboratories, glaucoma laboratories, molecular laboratories, etc. The director of the molecular laboratory is a graduate of Zhongshan University. The director of the Molecular Laboratory is Dr. Wang Lifi, who graduated from Sun Yat-sen Medical University.
