What is covered in The Checklist Revolution?

The List Revolution, a 227-page book, covers healthcare, construction, government, flying, dining, and much more in great detail, which is what I found so striking.

The book begins with the forgivable and the unforgivable, the "faults of ignorance" and the "faults of incompetence", the "faults of ignorance" being the faults committed because of the lack of proper knowledge, and the "faults of incompetence" being the faults committed because of the lack of proper knowledge. The "error of ignorance" is the error of not having the correct knowledge, and the "error of incompetence" is the error of not using the correct knowledge correctly, which is very simple to hear, but very complicated to implement.

In the book, the author Gwendolyn listed a lot of cases related to medicine, as a caregiver I know, a medical record contains a lot of medical staff's blood, and patients for our expectations, and a lot of unknown potential disease potential.

Whether in medicine or in other fields, personal ability is often not the most difficult obstacle to overcome. Everyone makes mistakes, low-level mistakes, even devastatingly low-level mistakes; how do we eliminate, minimize, or even avoid them? What should we do?

In our real life and work, we use in order to remind ourselves sticky notes, I think it is a kind of list. Why do we use lists? It is to allow our brain to build a "cognitive defense network", which can make up for our innate cognitive deficiencies, reduce the occurrence of errors or more uncertainty, for example, in our memory is incomplete or attention is not concentrated, the list is particularly important.

But how do we use lists properly? The content of the list must be simple first, concise, never comprehensive and efficient, never a list can cover all the circumstances, long and unclear meaning of the list is not efficient and safe implementation of all the elements of the list must be to adhere to the three principles of simplicity, measurable and efficient.

So who should be in charge of the list? Decentralize the decision-making power of the list to everyone, so that each person to afford their own responsibilities, to be people-oriented, but also can not be superstitious list, the list of power is limited. In the most critical situation, solve the problem of the protagonist is, after all, people are not the list, is the subjective initiative of people in the establishment of preventing mistakes.

The content of the list should be continuously improved to maintain the list's ability to evolve itself. Even the simplest of lists need to be continually improved. Simplicity and effectiveness are always a paradoxical union, and only continuous improvement will allow the list to always ensure safety, correctness and stability.

In fact, after I read the revolutionary list, I think a list is similar to our QCC continuous improvement work, found that the current urgent need to solve the problem, take it out for discussion, and develop the corresponding goals, methods, plans, decisions to act to improve the problem. No one is perfect, and even the best of us can be negligent, stubborn, or make mistakes.

In order not to let the same mistakes happen again and again, in order not to pay a heavy price for those mistakes, then let the simple and effective list in our work become a habit. I think the so-called checklist revolution is a change of mindset, and whether or not we will ultimately embrace it really depends on whether or not we recognize the significance that checklists can ultimately bring to us.

The above is my personal superficial feelings, but this revolutionary list is worth a look, perhaps you will have a deeper understanding than me.
