Test method
Fatigue test refers to the determination of metal materials through the metal material experiment σ-1, drawing material S-N curve, and then observe the fatigue damage phenomenon and fracture characteristics, and then learn the symmetrical cycle to determine the fatigue limit of the metal material method. Testing equipment generally has a fatigue testing machine and vernier calipers.
Under the action of sufficiently large alternating stress, in the shape of the metal component sudden change or surface scoring or internal defects and other parts, may be due to a large concentration of stress caused by microscopic cracks. Scattered microscopic cracks will form macroscopic cracks after agglomeration communication. Macro cracks have been formed gradually and slowly expand, component cross-section gradually weakened, when reaching a certain limit, the component will suddenly fracture. Metal due to alternating stress caused by the above failure phenomenon, known as metal fatigue. Static load under the plastic properties of very good materials, when subjected to alternating stresses, often in the stress below the yield limit without significant plastic deformation, sudden fracture. The fatigue fracture is clearly divided into two regions: the smoother crack extension area and the rougher fracture area. After the formation of the crack, the alternating stress makes the two sides of the crack sometimes open and sometimes closed, mutual extrusion repeated grinding, the smooth zone is so formed. The intermittent and size changes of the load leave multiple crack fronts in the smooth zone. As for the rough fracture zone, it is the last sudden fracture formation. Statistics show that about 70% or so of the failures of mechanical parts are caused by fatigue, and most of the accidents caused are catastrophic. Therefore, it is of practical significance to experimentally study the fatigue-resistant properties of metallic materials.
