Zen Buddhism says it is difficult to achieve epiphany by breaking down the "attachment to self" and "observing one's own mind because there is nothing to abide in". I think it's a good idea to refer to Mr. Fan's meaning of "change one's faults and do good deeds" and "accumulating blessings", which is also thought-provoking.

We took a tea break and talked in a separate house on one side of the lecture hall. The tea was delicious, and there were cakes and fruits. After lunch, at 1:15, it was the conversion ceremony of this living Zen practice trip, which was held in the Guanyin Hall, counting twelve people converted. Because we wanted to witness the conversion of our roommate Zhu Xianchun and the related ceremony, Mr. Gao, Xixi, and Xiaojun, we went into the hall together to watch and participate in the ceremony. The converted believers were subjected to five precepts: the precept of not killing, the precept of not speaking delusionally, the precept of not stealing, the precept of not being evilly lewd, and the precept of not drinking alcohol.

Each person holds the five precepts or some of them according to his or her own intention and ability to will, and for keeping the precepts, though strict, there is flexibility. Reading through it doesn't move the mind enough to want to convert.

If you really want to, then you are ready to do so, and you have the realization of renunciation, certainty, and oneness. When I came back, I asked Mr. Zhu Xianchun about his name, which is "Yao Yi," which means "shining brightly," and "honestly and surely as one," which is indeed a good name.

Finally, it was time to prepare for the 2:30pm tea talk. We brought cushions from the Guanyin Hall and set up our positions while one of the masters prepared tea, incense, and snacks. Venerable Ming Ying and the Sangha Master took their seats, and the male and female congregations filled the seats on both sides. Starting with the sound of Xixi's zither, we summarized and asked questions about the meditation. Disease, selflessness, the six paths of reincarnation, family relationships, inner balance, reading scriptures, Venerable Ming Ying's knowledge of the traditional wisdom of the Russo-Shih-Taoist traditions of Lao-Tsang, Confucius and Mencius, Buddha, and Dharma Masters, as well as Western philosophies, and the cutting-edge of contemporary thinking, he answered the questions and doubts one by one, with a broad, rounded cognitive system, and sincerity, patience, and tirelessly. From the complexity of life, the ultimate goal of life, to daily practice, to the response to mundane trivialities, all in all, cherish this life, cherish the rare person, and cultivate one's own personality, to obtain the ultimate fulfillment and freedom.
