Introduction of Public Interest Entrepreneurship

With the increasing attention to public welfare and the emergence of various public welfare organizations in recent years, "public welfare entrepreneurship" has gradually entered the public's vision. The so-called "public welfare entrepreneurship" is the creative integration of social and economic values by social organizations, enterprises, and non-profit organizations in the process of business operation, which ensures that the organizations do not deviate from the public welfare, while at the same time, using some commercial means to achieve the function of public welfare organizations, so that the organizations can have more resources and ability to engage in public welfare services.1

This is the first time that the public welfare entrepreneurship has been introduced to the public in Bangladesh. Since 2006, when Yunus, the founder of Bangladesh Rural Bank, won the Nobel Prize, there has been a global boom in public service entrepreneurship. However, China's philanthropic entrepreneurship as a whole started late, and Yuan Bullet was the first person in Shenzhen to propose the "philanthropic entrepreneurship" model. Since 2006, he has been determined to explore a way to not only strengthen the public welfare self-blood-creation function, but also realize the economic value and social value of "win-win" model of "public welfare entrepreneurship".2 In 2006, Hunan University took the lead in creating China's first public welfare entrepreneurship program with the name of "public welfare entrepreneurship". In 2006, Hunan University took the lead in creating China's first association named "Public Welfare Entrepreneurship" - Dishuien Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Association; around 2009, along with the first China University Students' Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Forum, the Youth League Central Committee's "Youth Henghao" Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Initiative, and the "British Embassy Around 2009, along with the first China College Students' Forum on Entrepreneurship for the Public Good, the "Youth Henghao" public service entrepreneurship action of the Youth League Central Committee, the "British Embassy's Social Entrepreneurship Skills Program", "Tsinghua University Public Service Entrepreneurship Practice Competition" and other series of activities and competitions in China, public service entrepreneurship has started to develop gradually in China. Nowadays, in the public welfare circle and entrepreneurship circle, people gradually realize the importance of public welfare entrepreneurship to the harmonious development of the society and the promotion of the improvement of social governance capacity, and theoretical researches and studies in the fields of social innovation, impact investment and public welfare venture capital are being conducted. Theoretical research and practice in the fields of "social innovation", "impact investment" and "public welfare venture capital" have also developed rapidly. An ecosystem with "public interest entrepreneurship" as the core and practice incubation, education and training, dissemination and promotion, and investment as the supporting system has been formed initially.
