Chinese-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University is a large-scale, modernized, comprehensive, tertiary-level A-class hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, and rehabilitation, which belongs to Jilin University, a university directly under the Ministry of Education and belongs to the National Health and Family Planning Commission (under the management of the National Health and Family Planning Commission).
The hospital was founded in November 1949, formerly known as the "College of Surgery of Changchun Medical University" of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The hospital has gone through the period of the Third Clinical Medical College of the Third Military Medical University of the People's Liberation Army, the period of the Third Clinical College of Jilin Medical University, and the period of the Third Clinical College of Baikou'en Medical University.
In July 1993, the main body of the hospital moved to a new site located in the Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone. The new hospital was built by the Jilin Provincial Government and Changchun Municipal Government with land allocation, the Ministry of Health's investment in infrastructure, and the Japanese Government's free aid of advanced equipment worth 2.6 billion yen*** In honor of the friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people and governments, the hospital was named the Third Clinical College of Paik Kung University of Medical Sciences (China-Japan Friendship Hospital).
In June 2000, Jilin University, Baikou'en University of Medical Sciences and other five colleges and universities merged to form the new Jilin University, the hospital was renamed "Jilin University China-Japan Friendship Hospital".
Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the hospital has made great progress, and has formed a four-in-one pattern with its headquarters (located at No. 126, Sendai Street), Xinmin Campus (located at No. 829, Xinmin Street), Nanhu Campus (located at No. 1028, Nanhu Xincun East Street), and Kaiyun Campus (located at No. 1433, Kaiyun Street).
