The hospital is a cooperative hospital of Heidelberg Hospital on the West Coast of Germany, and a twinning hospital of Xiangya No.2 Hospital of Central South University.
The hospital was founded in October 1916 as a church hospital, called Guilin Baptist Hospital; renamed Guilin Baptist Zion Hospital in February 1949; taken over by the Guilin Municipal People's Government in July 1951, renamed Guilin Workers' Hospital; and renamed in May 1985 as Guilin Second People's Hospital.
The hospital covers an area of 28681.73 square meters, with a building area of 404,070,200 square meters, 503 beds, and 996 employees, including 86 senior titles. It has 28 clinical departments including internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, stomatology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, etc., 12 medical and technical departments, 23 functional departments, and two national model community health service centers.
