The competent administrative department of health and the competent administrative department of environmental protection, in performing their duties of supervision and inspection, have the right to take the following measures:
1. Conduct on-site inspections of the units concerned to learn about the situation, conduct on-site monitoring, and investigate and collect evidence;
2. Review or copy relevant information on medical waste management, and collect samples;
3. Order units and individuals who have violated the provisions of these regulations to stop violating the law. Units and individuals in violation of the provisions of the Ordinance to stop illegal acts;
4, seizure or temporary detention of suspected violation of the provisions of the Ordinance premises, equipment, means of transportation and goods;
5, the violation of the provisions of the Ordinance to investigate and deal with.
In summary, the Regulations on the Management of Medical Waste were promulgated by Decree No. 380 of the State Council on June 16, 2003, and have come into force since the date of promulgation.

Article 1
In order to strengthen the safe management of medical waste, prevent the spread of disease, protect the environment, and safeguard human health, the Regulations are formulated in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases and the Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste.
Article 2
The medical waste referred to in these regulations refers to the wastes generated by medical and health institutions in the course of medical treatment, prevention, health care, and other related activities that are directly or indirectly infectious, toxic, and other hazardous.
