The predecessor of Chuzhou College was Chuzhou Normal School founded in 1950; in 1977, it set up the Chu County Teaching Point (Chuzhou Branch) of Anhui Normal University; in 1980, it was renamed Chuzhou Normal Specialized School; and in May 2004, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded and named Chuzhou College.In 2019, the school was formally included in the provincial-level master's degree project construction units in Anhui Province.
As of December 2022, the school has 2 campuses in Huifeng and Langya, covering an area of 1,633 acres, with a building area of 462,000 square meters, a value of 340 million yuan for teaching and research instruments and equipment, a library collection of 1,372,900 paper books, and 1,566,000 e-books;
