The ancient ancestors of the Tibetan people, in order to survive and develop, while struggling with the natural world, began early medical activities, namely, the primitive experience of medicine, which is the origin of Tibetan medicine, and the basis of the modern system of Tibetan medicine.
Hi Rao Miwo was the earliest Tibetan doctor. Xiangxiong is the earliest birthplace of Tibetan culture and the birthplace of Hi Rao Miwo, the founder of Yongzhong Benjaminism. He authored a number of theoretical works, including the "Nine Epigrams of Tibetan Medicine".

Development of Tibetan Medicine:
After 1951, under the light of the Party's nationalist policy, the cause of Tibetan medicine has developed by leaps and bounds. Since 1960, Xiao Peigen and Xia Guangcheng of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences went to Tibet three times to investigate the resources of Tibetan medicine.
Pan Jintang of the Northwest Plateau Biological Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1968-1975, Yang Jingsheng of the Yunnan Pharmaceutical Inspection Institute in 1964-1985, and Luo Dashang of the Gansu Provincial College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1968-1986 successively conducted field surveys of Tibetan medicinal resources in the Tibetan Koraku Koratan, especially Luo's survey. The long duration, wide area and much information collected is the first, which has made pioneering contribution to the development and utilization of Tibetan medicine.
