In the field of bone and joint surgery, he has adopted artificial joint surgical techniques (total knee and total hip replacement) for senile osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, congenital hip dislocation, femoral head necrosis, femoral neck fracture, and other diseases, and has achieved remarkable clinical results. With rich clinical experience and the results of learning in the United States, Germany, Switzerland and other countries, President Gao Zhongli carried out hip revision surgery earlier in China, and has completed more than one hundred cases, some of which are the second or even the third revision. At the "Advanced Training Course on Artificial Joints in Northeastern Provinces" held in June, 2002, the artificial joint experts from the United States expressed their surprise and fully affirmed the work he had done.
In the field of spinal surgery, President Gao Zhongli carried out posterior pedicle nail fixation, resection of diseased vertebral attachments in the posterior column, anterior vertebral tumor resection, and bone grafting for reconstruction of spinal structure, which reached the advanced level of similar international research and won the first prize of the only medical achievement of Jilin University in 2001. This kind of early surgery is dangerous and has a high mortality rate. In order to solve this problem, President Gao Zhongli carried out early posterior restoration, anterior discectomy, bone graft fusion, and internal fixation of steel plate, which received good results, and his related research paper "Early Decompression Bone Grafting and Self-locking Plate Fixation of Cervical Spine Trauma" was published in the authoritative orthopaedic professional journal "Chinese Spinal Cord Journal".
Director Gao Zhongli is constantly exploring the field of new clinical technologies. He has introduced the only navigation system in Jilin province; he also continues to carry out the clinical application of new surgical therapies, such as transverse vertebral body hollow screw fixation of odontoid fracture; modified peri-acetabular rotational osteotomy for acetabular dysplasia; rotational osteotomy of the femoral intertrochanteric ridge for necrosis of the femoral head. These new techniques are the first of their kind in the province and have reached the leading level in China.
In 30 years of teaching, medical treatment and scientific research, Dr. Gao Zhongli has achieved fruitful results. In recent years, he has obtained 1 key funded project from the Ministry of Health, 3 second prizes of Science and Technology Progress Award from Jilin Science and Technology Department, 1 utility model patent, 11 provincial and municipal scientific research projects, 6 medical achievement awards from Jilin University, and more than 50 papers. He has presided over and completed the "Mechanical Research on the Matching of National Upper Femur and Artificial Hip Joint" and the "Design Research on the Optimization of Pre-operative Prosthesis for Artificial Joint Replacement", which has made the Orthopaedics Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital reach the leading level in the field of artificial joints in China. He is the chief editor and co-editor of many orthopedic academic monographs, such as "Orthopedic Physician Refresher Course", "Osteoporosis", "Practical Interlocking Intramedullary Needle Technique" and "Practical Traumatology and Orthopedics".
Director Gao Zhongli insists on the first line of teaching and is responsible for teaching undergraduates, master's degree and doctoral degree students as well as advanced students, and has trained 16 master's degree students and 18 doctoral degree students. Among them, "bone tumor" CAI courseware for the People's Health Publishing House published "Surgery" supporting multimedia teaching courseware, won the second prize of Jilin University teaching achievements; "bone surgery education in the multidisciplinary integration of students to cultivate the comprehensive quality of the education model research and practice" for the second batch of the second batch of the new century, Jilin University teaching key reform projects, is now a successful completion of the project.
