In the Technical Specification for Cleaning and Disinfection of Flexible Endoscope, the leak detection link of endoscope is strictly stipulated, as follows:
The only way to find the damage of endoscope early is to find the leak before each cleaning. The neglect of leak detection in China is an important factor that greatly reduces the life of endoscope (for example, the lens is blurred due to the neglect of leak detection and the angle is not enough due to the corrosion of internal parts); At the same time, the damage of endoscope lumen is also one of the important factors of disinfection failure, so we must pay attention to leak detection.
The importance of endoscopic leak detection has the following two points:
Cost saving: minor problems found in the leak detection process of endoscope and timely repair can prolong the service life of endoscope, avoid unnecessary maintenance and reduce the cost.
Reduce the risk of cross-infection of patients: small wounds on endoscope are easy to retain bacteria and viruses, and it is difficult to clean and disinfect. Moreover, bacteria remain in small losses and are easy to spread to other patients, posing a threat to the safety and health of patients.
Most medical institutions in China have a large number of patients and a relatively small number of endoscopes. Therefore, the operability of leak detection before each cleaning is poor. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the leak detection link when supervising the endoscopic center, first leak detection, and then cleaning and disinfection.
Checking whether the soft endoscope leaks is a key link that should be paid attention to in the routine maintenance of the endoscope;
The soft endoscope used that day should be leak-checked once a day and at the end of work; If conditions permit, leak detection should be carried out before each cleaning. Put the endoscope into the cleaning tank with proper amount of cleaning water. First, remove the biopsy master valve, aspirator button and air and water supply button. Connect the leak detector and inject pressure. Insert the endoscope into the human body and immerse it in water. At the same time, bend the tip of the endoscope in all directions to observe whether there are bubbles coming out. If there is any leakage, it should be sent for inspection in time. Leak detection shall be recorded.
From this point of view, whether it is from the maintenance of endoscope, the cost of maintenance or the risk of sensing control, the leak detection of endoscope is a very important and essential link!
