Guangdong University of Finance and Economics has two campuses in Guangzhou and Foshan, covering a total area of 2,275 mu, the Guangzhou campus is adjacent to the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, and the Foshan campus is located in the Yundonghai Tourism and Economic Zone of the Sanshui District of Foshan City; the existing campus buildings are about 719,700 square meters. HistoryCarl Carl Koo (古應芬), a native of Panyu, Guangdong Province, and a veteran of the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party), was admitted to study in Japan at the expense of the Qing government at the same time as Zhu Jixin (朱执信), Hu Hanmin (胡汉民), Wang Jingwei (汪精卫), and Du Zhilin (杜之林), and joined the China League of Alliance (中國盟盟會)in Tokyo in 1905 to follow Sun Yat-sen (孙中山), and graduated from the University of Legal Affairs (法政大學) in 1906. He returned to China after graduation in 1907 and served as compiler of the Guangdong Law and Politics College, secretary-general of Sun Yat-sen's headquarters, member of the Standing Committee of the Kuomintang, and head of the civil service of the National Government. In 1997, Lu Zhonghe, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, and Liu Yang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, on behalf of the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Justice, respectively, signed the "Agreement on the Establishment of the Guangdong Business School (Guangdong University of Law and Business)".
In 1998, it was adjusted to the second batch of undergraduate enrollment in response to the arrangement of the Provincial Department of Education and undertook the task of expanding enrollment.

On June 19, 2013, the Ministry of Education officially issued a document: agreed to change the name of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics to Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, referred to as "Guangdong University of Finance and Economics", and abolished the establishment of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics.
