Director's Bio
Chen Kaige (陳凯歌), born on August 12, 1952 in Xicheng District, Beijing, China, and a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, is a male director, producer and supervisor of the Chinese mainland.
Chen Kaige made his film debut in 1984 with Yellow Earth, which won the Silver Leopard Award at the 38th Locarno International Film Festival, and won the Special Director's Award at the 8th Golden Rooster Awards for his drama The Child King in 1987, and became the first Chinese film to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival with his literary film Farewell My Concubine in 1993, as well as the first Chinese film to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1998, he directed the historical movie "Jing Ke Assassinate the Qin King".
