Henan Urban Construction College is the only provincial undergraduate college in Henan Province that focuses on engineering and coordinates the development of multiple disciplines with "urban construction" as its specialty, and it is also one of only two undergraduate colleges and universities in the country named after "urban construction". It is also one of the only two undergraduate colleges named after "Urban Construction" in China.

In 2016, the university was selected as a pilot institution for the Ministry of Education's "100 Schools Project" industry-teaching fusion innovation project, a member of the CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, and was selected for the construction program of demonstrative undergraduate colleges and universities of applied technology type in Henan Province.

The school was founded in 1983, formerly known as Henan Higher Specialized School of Urban Construction, and was upgraded to an undergraduate institution in March 2002 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.In 2018, the school became a provincial master's project construction unit in Henan Province.

Teaching Construction

As of October 2020, the school covers an area of 1,730 acres, with two campuses and a total building area of more than 696,900 square meters; the total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment is 303 million yuan, and there are 96 teaching laboratories (centers); 1,860,000 volumes of paper collections, 1,420,000 volumes of e-books, and 45 databases of all kinds of Chinese and foreign languages.

The area of all kinds of sports fields and gymnasiums is nearly 110,800 square meters. There are 17 colleges and 55 undergraduate majors; 1,367 on-staff faculty members, 997 full-time teachers, 19,976 full-time students, and 11,601 various types of adult education students.
