ZEISS was founded in Jena, Germany, initially as a small company producing optical equipment, and its founders were Carl Zeiss and Ernst Abbey. Under the leadership of Ernst Abbey, Zeiss made many significant breakthroughs in optical technology.
Zeiss mainly produces high-end optical instruments and equipment, such as microscopes, telescopes, and optical lenses. Retina mainly produces high-end lenses, frames, sunglasses and accessories, etc. Zeiss Retina's products include ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical equipment, surgical microscopes, and laser retinal scanners.
Development of ZEISS:
In the late 19th century, ZEISS began to industrialize the production of optical instruments and quickly sold its products all over the world through an extensive distribution network. In the 1950s and 1960s, ZEISS began to expand into other fields, such as photography and semiconductor manufacturing. In the 1990s, Zeiss split into two companies, Zeiss AG and Zeiss Optical AG.
Zeiss Inc. focused on the production of optical instruments, while Zeiss Optics Inc. focused on the production of products such as optical lenses and cameras. Zeiss Optical then changed its name to Sightnite.
