Sanchong District is a city district of New Taipei City, one of the major satellite cities of the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Area. Before the reorganization, Sanchong District was the fourth most densely populated city in Taiwan and the 23rd most densely populated city in the world1, with a population density of up to 24,000 people per square kilometer, and it is now the seventh most densely populated city district in Taiwan.

Sanchong District is a county municipality located in the former Taipei County, a satellite city of Taipei City. On December 25, 2010, the former Taipei County was reorganized into New Taipei City, and the townships and municipalities under its jurisdiction were changed to districts. It is home to many immigrants from central and southern Taiwan. Sanchong District northwest and Lujhou District, Wugu District, west and Xinzhuang District, neighboring, south and Banqiao District across the Dahan River, east and Taipei City, Shilin District, Datong District, Wanhua District across the Danshui River.

In the early days, Fujian and Guangdong immigrants from Xinzhuang settled in the north, and the first plain was called "Touzhongpu", and "Sanzhongpu" means the third plain.
