Traditional Chinese medicine is biased towards internal medicine and pays attention to the internal conditioning of human body; Western medicine is biased towards surgery and pays attention to the external governance of the human body. Figuratively speaking, western medicine is a bit like "treating a headache and treating a foot pain". If there is a problem, it is removed, that is, surgery; Traditional Chinese medicine, on the other hand, believes that every disease is caused by internal imbalance in the human body, so it pays attention to conditioning and seeks a balance, and the theory of "fighting poison with poison" is also based on this balance.
The theory of traditional Chinese medicine is based on the theory of human body meridians and the theory of human body yin and yang and five elements, but these points have not been proved and recognized by modern science, and there is still great controversy, which is also a fundamental conflict.
There are several reasons why modern western medicine will surpass traditional Chinese medicine in the general trend:
First, quick results. Western medicine adopts the way of external treatment of human body, so it takes effect quickly, but this way destroys the balance of human body, so the side effects and sequelae are also great; Traditional Chinese medicine pays attention to adjustment, step by step, and the effect is relatively slow. Modern people seldom care about the latter, but only want to get better soon. Under the mentality of quick success and instant benefit, Chinese medicine lags far behind.
Second, the development of medical equipment. Before the emergence of medical equipment, western medicine's surgery was very extensive and purely surgical, and it did not understand the internal structure of the human body or its pathology. However, with the emergence of various medical equipment, this situation of western medicine has been fundamentally solved, so it has also formed the dependence of western medicine on equipment and cannot treat diseases empty-handed. In this respect, Chinese medicine used to rely on personal experience and medical skills, not relying on foreign things. Although it has been catching up in modern times, it will not change for a long time.
Third, the development of chemical technology. Western chemistry started early, ahead of China, while western medicine, based on chemistry, is unique among western medicine with developed chemistry. Comparatively speaking, there are still many people who have doubts about Chinese herbal medicine.
Fourth, scientific superstition. Modern people put everything on the signboard of science, and what has not been scientifically verified is cheating. In this respect, western medicine has inherent advantages, because western science is developed, they say it is science, that is science, it is not, or even pseudoscience. However, the meridian theory and the five elements theory of traditional Chinese medicine are considered false because they cannot be verified, so few people believe them. Even if it can really cure the disease, it has not been conclusive, because it cannot be proved to exist.
5. The backwardness of the national economy. Because of the country's backwardness, everything in China has been completely denied, and everything is completely backward, even if it is actually advanced, it will be denied. If China's economic strength can reach the level of the United States, Chinese medicine will not be like this.
