It is located in the southwest of China, including all of Xizang Autonomous Region and Qinghai provinces, the west of Sichuan Province, the south of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the west of Gansu Province and the northwest of Yunnan Province. Most of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is in People's Republic of China (PRC) except the border between Qinghai and Sichuan.
Because the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is high in altitude, covered with snow all year round, and the temperature is very low, more than 3000 meters above sea level, it is cold and oxygen-deficient.
