1, Olympus OM mouth camera
My early years, although I also know that there are Olympus cameras, but there has been no intuitive impression.
The earliest contact is an old Olympus leather cavity folding camera, check the information is a product of the forties, and then know that the first Olympus manufacturer's camera was born in 1936, or relatively early.
Later see someone with Olympus OM-10 camera, and did not take it too seriously, until one day at the yard sale to see a box full of SLR camera focusing screen, surprisingly, there are more than a dozen, the seller said it is with the Olympus camera.
What kind of camera is Olympus? Surprisingly, with so many focusing screens, this is too professional!
So I learned about the Olympus DSLRs OM-1 and OM-2.
When I first got my hands on the OM-1, I was immediately attracted by its compactness, which is too delicate!
Not only is it small, but the material used is also good, just like a craft, it is comfortable to hold in your hand.
The Olympus OM-1 camera was born in 1973.
Before it, Olympus had produced a M42 screw-ported lens SLR in 1971, and the first OM-ported SLR camera, the M-1, in 1972.
These first two were produced briefly and in small quantities, but the OM was a successful design and Olympus found its way to mass production.
Next Olympus came out with the highly productive OM-1, which was widely used as a camera companion for various scientific and medical equipment.
In fact, Olympus is not a camera-based optical company, its main medical equipment, especially microscopes, are important in the world, and Olympus cameras, basically to the equipment supporting the main, do not need to be too advanced, too much functionality, so the civilian camera, especially the SLR camera, seems to have not been attracted attention.
Now look back at the Olympus DSLR camera, there are actually not many models.
It only started in the seventies, and although it had the very aesthetically successful OM-1 as a starting point and foundation, not only were there not many followups, there wasn't much in the way of improvement or technological contention for pioneers, and even at the end of the day there were no auto-focusing electronic cameras coming out.
If you want to collect Olympus DSLR cameras, it should be very fast and easy to collect them all.
The high-end quasi-professional bodies are the OM-1, OM-2, OM-3, OM-4, OM-4T, and the low-end models are the OM-10, OM-20, OM-30, OM-40, and that's about it.
Isn't that too few and pathetic.
In fact, the overall gap between Olympus is not very big, Olympus OM-1 can be said to have opened the first compact SLR camera, if you say the influence of the later Nikon FM, FE, and Pentax MX, ME, etc. have its shadow, but in terms of sophistication have not exceeded it, the Olympus OM-1 series, can be called the myth of the small and exquisite SLR.
Olympus OM-1 is a mechanical shutter camera, and in 1984 launched the OM-2 is an electronic shutter camera, and then improved the OM-2, launched the OM-4, the main increase in the multi-spot metering .
The Olympus OM-1 mechanical shutter camera was upgraded to the OM-3 in 1983, which also added multi-spot metering.
So Olympus' odd-numbered OM-1 and OM-3 are mechanical shutters, while the even-numbered OM-2 and OM-4 are electronic shutters.
In 1986 Olympus again improved the OM-4, mainly flash system and metering system upgrades, the achievement of the OM-4Ti.
Since then Olympus did not have a big thing, in the field of DSLRs almost no idea again.
Actually, all four of these OM cameras are great! It is a great pity that Olympus later capricious "lie flat", no further in-depth research and development of DSLR cameras, perhaps the industry focus shifted to civilian cameras are not very interested in.
These four cameras OM-1 production is the largest, while the OM-3 production is very small, has a collection value.
The OM-2 is also not a small production and can often be seen, the OM-4, OM-4Ti is a little less.
2, Olympus OM mouth lens
I was obsessed with playing the old German lenses in the early years, when I also collected some Olympus lenses, and today find out to take pictures, found that there are actually thirteen fixed-focus lenses (not counting the two 50/1.4 standard head on the camera and a 50/1.8 standard head).
These dainty, elf-like lenses from Olympus are just so delightful.
These lenses are also
Here are my thirteen Olympus OM-ported fixed lenses, which can be called my "Thirteen Guards"! strong>
50/3.5 Macro Lens
50/2 Macro Lens
55/1.2 Scalar Head
85/2 Medium Focal Length Lens strong>
90/2 Macro Lens (Peacock Plume)
100/2 Portrait Lens
100/3.5 Medium Focus Lens
135 /4.5 Macro Lens
80-135/4 Macro Lens (Extended Barrel)
Why is it surprising that five of these lenses are macro lenses?
This is mainly Olympus photographic equipment is not only for civilian use, but mainly for scientific research, medical equipment supporting, and macro optics and micro-optics is Olympus's strengths, so a variety of focal lengths macro are out, other manufacturers really do not have to play so.
In addition, six of these lenses are F2 caliber, and Olympus F2 caliber lenses, and was made " OM-System F2 Legion ", this team has:
21/2, 24/2, 28/2 , 35/2 , 35/2 , 35/2 , 35/2 , and 35/2 . strong> 35/2 , 40/2, 50/2macro , 85/2, 90/2macro, 100/2 , 180/2 and other lenses, are not bad, can be said to be the best of the Japanese lens species.
This series I'm missing a few are not good to find, especially the 180/2 lens, is the soul of this team ah.
The most famous of my dozen or so lenses is the Zuiko 90/2 Macro which, also known as the " Peacock Plume", was also the best Japanese portrait macro lens in the early years.
And the 85/2, 90/2macro, 100/2 these three lenses are known as the Olympus Three Musketeers of Portrait Lenses , I'm all together.
Olympus OM port lens is not only compact, but the production is very delicate, focusing on a very good sense of damping, it can be said that in the Japanese lens is definitely the most feeling, Nikon, Canon, etc. can not reach.
Unfortunately, none of these lenses have been carefully played with since they were collected.
In the early years, first obsessed with Leica lenses, and then fell into the fall of the film lens, and so understand that photography is actually a record, began to return to the quick and easy to use AF lenses, and directly bought a variety of Sony micro-single supporting lenses for rapid shooting.
Until the epidemic appeared, can not go out, only to find that these Japanese lenses have been left out for many years ah.
See here someone will ask: OM mouth zoom lens how?
I have two 35-105/3.5 and 35-70/4 in my hands right now, the former of which I used to use, and it's still good, but I like the petite and delicate fixed focal length head, and the zoom lenses are a bit out of my league.
In fact, there is a 35-80/2.8 zoom head, which is said to be of good quality, but it's a rare sight and I haven't played with it yet.
After writing the article, I miss the Olympus 180/2 lens, when I also get one, without it, the team is not "army" ah.
