In 1970, Zaozhuang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded.
In 1996, it was assessed as a Grade 3A Chinese Medicine Hospital by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In 2009, the municipal government of Zaozhuang invested 400 million yuan in the construction of the New City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the center of the new city (1000 meters away from the high-speed railway station).
In December 2013, the hospital passed the reassessment by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) with the sixth place in the province, and it is the only national Grade 3A TCM hospital in the city.
In January 2015, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine identified as the first batch of "national TCM diagnosis and treatment model innovation pilot hospital". Put into use on January 26, the new hospital covers an area of 78 acres, with a total construction area of 62,000 square meters.
