Is the little red book for studying in the United States out of date?

(Vaccination form issued by Columbia University)

Near the beginning of school, many students began to worry about visas, physical examinations, vaccines and other issues. The following is the acquisition strategy of physical examination and vaccination before going to the United States. After reading it, everyone is no longer confused.

Physical examination &; vaccine

All freshmen studying in the United States must provide complete vaccine records before class.

Students who fail to provide vaccine records according to the requirements of the school are not allowed to enter the campus, and even if they are found by the school not to provide complete vaccine records, they should bear legal responsibility. Therefore, generally speaking, after getting an offer from abroad, you need to start the entry-exit medical examination and vaccination two days later.

Before introducing vaccination and physical examination strategies, let me explain a term to you:

Little Red Book: International Travel Health Examination Certificate (used to prove that "no infectious diseases that may cause great harm to public health were found in this medical examination"-"Conclusion" comes from the last page of Little Red Book)

Little yellow book: international certificate of vaccination or preventive measures (all vaccination records will be on it)

If you want to get these two notebooks, you must go to international travel health care centers around the country for physical examination and vaccination, which is not accepted by ordinary hospitals or epidemic prevention departments.

Why do you want a physical examination?

Instructions on health and quarantine of entry-exit personnel in the Service Guide of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China: Persons under any of the circumstances listed in Article 102 of the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) shall show their health certificates.

Article 102 of the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law of People's Republic of China (PRC): Anyone who applies to stay abroad for more than 1 year must hold a health certificate issued by the health and quarantine organ. The exit and entry administration authorities of China citizens shall go through exit formalities with the health certificate issued by the health and quarantine organ.

Why do you want a physical examination?

Take the United States as an example, according to American law: "All new students must provide complete vaccine records to go to school, otherwise they will not be able to enter the campus. Once students are found to have failed to provide complete vaccine records, they may have to bear corresponding legal responsibilities. "

It should be noted that different schools and different states have different requirements for vaccination, mainly to prevent regional epidemics. But in other countries, related vaccination and even specific physical examination items will be different. Although universities in some countries will provide vaccination services for students, it is more convenient and cheaper to vaccinate at home than abroad.

If time permits, it is still recommended to finish the injection in China.

Where to do a physical examination and get vaccinated?

The first suggestion is the local international travel health center.

Because there is a one-stop service, you must have a physical examination before vaccination.

After I finish, I will give you the above "health certificate" (commonly known as Little Red Book), which records your physical examination information.

After vaccination, you will be given a vaccination certificate (commonly known as a little yellow book), which records the vaccines and information you have vaccinated. The red book is valid for one year, and the yellow book has no time limit.

What are the physical examination items?

Including general examination items (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature screening), internal medicine, surgery, ENT, chest X-ray examination, electrocardiogram, ultrasound examination and laboratory examination items (AIDS detection, syphilis detection, hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis C antibody, liver function (ALT or GPT), blood type and blood routine).

What vaccine do I need?

First of all, most foreign schools (mostly American schools) will make their own medical examination and vaccine forms (hereinafter referred to as "self-contained forms"), and students can request/download them according to the school's guidelines. A separate form will clearly indicate the vaccine to be injected.

Please remember to bring your own form with you during the physical examination, read your own form fully before the physical examination, and fill in the basic information and medical history according to the requirements of the form.

After the physical examination is completed, the doctor will complete the relevant physical examination items and vaccinate you according to the contents of the self-contained form.

What are the common vaccines?

MMR (measles, mumps and rubella): measles and mumps combined vaccine.

Namely measles, mumps and rubella trinity vaccine,

* * * Two injections are required, and the second injection is a booster.

The second injection should be injected at the interval of 1 month from the first injection.

Therefore, I hope that all students who need to be vaccinated will be prepared in advance.

DTP (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus): DTP combined vaccine.

Namely pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus mixed vaccine. Generally, when we were young, we were vaccinated with DTP combined vaccine. However, DTP combined vaccine is not effective for life, and the general validity period is about 10 year. Therefore, it is generally necessary to take another shot to strengthen the needle. Some students are very skilled in playing in Shanghai, which is the strengthening of pertussis and tetanus.

Hepatitis B: Hepatitis B vaccine.

We did the same thing when we were young, but hepatitis B vaccine also has an expiration date, which is generally 10- 15 years. So after the expiration date, the hepatitis B antibody in our body may be gone (can it be detected by physical examination). If not, you need to re-inject. Hepatitis B vaccine needs three injections, and the last two are enhanced injections.

The second needle should be separated from the first needle by 1 month, and the third needle should be separated from the first needle by 6 months.

We can see from the common vaccines that different vaccines have different vaccination procedures, and some need a certain interval to complete the whole vaccination.

So please try to start preparing 1-3 months in advance.

If you really miss the best processing time, resulting in incomplete or no vaccination, then you can also contact the school to go abroad for vaccination.

Basic information to be carried during physical examination.

Basic data of

1. Original and photocopy of my ID card or passport, and 5 one-inch color photos.

2. If you need to apply for the "Little Yellow Book" or the school has vaccine requirements, please bring the original and copy of the children's vaccination record.

3. If you need a doctor to fill out the school physical examination and vaccine form, please bring a paper version of the form and consult the front desk doctor to show it.

4. If you need to know the medical history of the school, or need to take medicine for a long time, please take the initiative to explain it to the doctor and bring the medical record or diagnosis certificate.

5. Students who need multiple vaccinations should bring the "Little Yellow Book" issued by the doctor and the vaccination appointment form each time.

Precautions:

1. Please try to have a physical examination on an empty stomach in the morning. There are a large number of people on the scene to handle business during the peak period, so it is necessary to reserve at least 2 hours to handle it.

2. Girls should try to avoid menstruation.

Myopic students should try not to wear contact lenses.

4./kloc-Students under the age of 0/8 need to be accompanied by guardians.

Be sure to pay attention to whether the doctor signs or seals, and indicate the date.

When can I get the little red book and the little yellow book?

Under normal circumstances, the certificate will be issued in the afternoon of the fourth working day.

After the physical examination, please collect the physical examination results according to the specific time indicated on the result receipt issued by the physical examination center. 20 17, 17, Guangzhou international travel health care center made it clear after February 28th that the medical examination did not need to be made in advance.

From April 7, 20 17, China citizens who have been approved to study abroad for more than 1 year can be exempted from paying the medical examination fee (only for the items listed in the international travel health examination certificate, and the additional medical examination items required by other countries are not free) with valid documents such as visas and admission notices for more than 1 year.

Some students also reported that they don't need to wait until the visa comes down, just need a passport/ID card, admission notice and I-20 to get a free medical examination.

But it should be noted that:

1. If the visa is issued very late, I suggest not to delay the medical examination time for five or six hundred yuan.

2. There may be differences between international travel health care centers in different places in terms of whether to make an appointment, material requirements, vaccination, etc. It is recommended to call the relevant center to find out before the physical examination.

Finally, I wish you all the best!
