Why are some people fat but good at running?

Although body shape may affect running ability, running performance does not only depend on a person's body shape or weight. Here are some possible reasons why some people are fat but run well:

1. Cardiopulmonary function: A person's cardiopulmonary function may affect his running ability. Even if they are fat, they can still have good endurance and running performance if their cardiopulmonary function is well exercised.

2. Muscle strength and type: Although obese people may have more fat, their muscles may be stronger or have more slow muscle fibers, which gives them an advantage in long-distance running or endurance running. In addition, some people's muscles may be more adapted to produce lower lactic acid levels, which enables them to do aerobic exercise for a longer time.

3. Physical fitness: People who often do aerobic exercise may have very good physical fitness even if they are fat. They may have improved their endurance and speed through constant exercise and adaptation training.

4. Health status: Some people may gain weight because of their health status, but their risk of cardiovascular disease or other health problems may be low. These factors may make them easier to run.

5. Running skills and posture: Good running skills and posture can make people consume less energy in running. Some people may have mastered these skills and can run well even if they are fat.

It should be pointed out that although these factors may make some obese people perform better in running, it does not mean that all obese people can become excellent runners. Everyone's physical and health condition is unique. It's best to consult a doctor or a health professional before starting any new exercise program.
