In order to cooperate with Shanghai's national strategy of building an international shipping center, improve Shanghai's maritime legal environment and facilitate arbitration by the parties, China Maritime Arbitration Commission upgraded its Shanghai office to Shanghai branch on June 7, 2003. The Shanghai branch exercises the same functions as the Shanghai General Association, and can independently accept and hear cases. In addition, it is also responsible for the investigation of maritime arbitration, legal advisory services, and the publicity and promotion of China maritime law and maritime arbitration system.
In recent years, Shanghai Branch has successively established fishery dispute settlement center, Shanghai Maritime Mediation Center and Jiangsu Maritime Mediation Center. In 2009, Shanghai Branch also launched the name "Shanghai Maritime Arbitration Institute" and established the Shanghai Branch of the Maritime Expert Advisory Committee to further support the soft environment construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, and strive to make use of the maritime brand to upgrade Shanghai into a maritime arbitration center in China and even the Asia-Pacific region.
The types of cases involve disputes such as ship repair, ship sale, ship collision, bill of lading, cargo transportation contract, freight forwarding contract, lease, insurance contract, logistics, fishery and crew service.
Two. Shanghai International Shipping Arbitration Institute (a subsidiary of Shanghai Arbitration Commission)
On the afternoon of May 25th, 2009, Shanghai International Shipping Arbitration Institute was established.
Shanghai International Shipping Arbitration Institute is a specialized branch of Shanghai Arbitration Commission, which arbitrates and hears disputes in shipping, logistics, maritime affairs and port construction. The agency is located in Shanghai North Bund Shipping Service Cluster. After the establishment of Shanghai International Shipping Arbitration Institute, it will strive to play its due role, gradually introduce arbitration mechanism into the international shipping field, and provide good arbitration legal services for the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
Shanghai Arbitration Commission (an independent legal person) was established in accordance with the Arbitration Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on1September, 199518th. Shanghai Arbitration Commission accepts and arbitrates contract disputes and other property rights disputes between natural persons, legal persons and other organizations with equal subjects independently, fairly and promptly in accordance with China laws, international practices and the rules of this Association.
