For example, in daily life, many people have experienced many psychological problems in study, work, marriage, family and interpersonal communication. If these problems are not handled properly, they will cause people's psychological contradictions, emotional tension, sadness and depression. If people have poor adaptability to these stimuli from inside and outside the body, then these stimuli will become malignant stimuli, damage physical and mental health, lead to psychological disorders, and even lead to mental illness. Therefore, we can't understand the meaning of "health" unilaterally, only pay attention to physical and physiological health, and ignore mental health.
In fact, people's health includes both physical and psychological aspects. Because people are the unity of physiology and psychology, physical and mental health is mutual influence and interaction. With the continuous enrichment and improvement of human spiritual life, how to maintain mental health and prevent mental illness is bound to become an increasingly urgent task to be solved.
Maybe you will infer from the general logic of life. The antonym of "health" is "unhealthy"; And "unhealthy" is "disease"; Then, mental unhealthy is "mental illness"! This inference is not necessarily accurate, because it simplifies complicated things. This point will be discussed in detail in the future, so I won't say it here for the time being. However, "psychosis" does exist. Do you know that?/You know what? Do you know that?/You know what? People's psychology will undergo subtle changes after being stimulated by the world inside and outside the body. Just like the weather, there are sunny and cloudy, windy and rainy, sometimes there are thunderstorms and sometimes there are snowstorms. This is a very normal phenomenon. If a person's mental state is like a stagnant pool, it is not turbulent at all. From the point of view of psychiatry, it is abnormal.
People's psychology has undergone a "subtle" change after being stimulated from inside and outside the body, which is mainly manifested in three aspects: (1) Different people have different psychological reactions in the range of degrees and the length of time. For example, young people will lament when they fail exams or fall in love. However, some people are so sad that they will forget it after a while; However, some people are "miserable", still depressed and distressed for a long time, and some people are devastated. (2) In addition to the above-mentioned quantitative differences, there will be "qualitative" differences. It is completely normal for two people to meet in the eye, but some people subjectively doubt others' contempt for him (her); It is common for couples to get together and talk and laugh, but some people will suspect that others are laughing at him or her. This distortion of the essence of things due to subjective speculation is a psychological abnormality. (3) Some people show psychological disharmony untimely. For example, when it is time to cry, he (she) smiles instead; When it is his (her) turn to laugh, he (she) cries, and so on.
The above three forms of psychological reaction all show to varying degrees that abnormal and psychologically unhealthy behaviors do exist in daily life.
However, I want to remind you that the concept of mental illness is relatively broad. You should neither "self-diagnose" mental illness nor panic. Because psychological (or mental) diseases can be divided into many different degrees. For example, schizophrenia, which is crazy and serious, is considered to be the most serious one. Patients with this mental illness can't take care of themselves and live independently, and they can't be expected to fulfill their obligations and make contributions to society. But there are also much lighter mental illnesses. For example, various mental disorders, such as headache caused by an unsolvable problem, insomnia caused by excessive anxiety, vomiting caused by disgust, paralysis caused by severe mental shock, and anxiety, fear, pessimism, fragility, irritability, sensitivity, loneliness and timidity caused by the destruction of various normal psychological activities, can all be classified into the broad category of mental illness. This is the view of most psychiatrists. In this little book, I also understand and explain mental illness in this sense.
However, not all mental disorders, or psychopaths, can be called "psychosis". Can you say that a person who laughs at a little happiness and cries at a little sadness is similar to a "madman"? Such people are likely to be emotional or neurotic. In daily life, we often say that someone is a "psycho" and someone is a "madman". In fact, this is only an exaggeration and exaggeration in a moment of anger and contempt, which does not necessarily mean that they are really schizophrenic or insane.
Of course, if a person's sensory perception, thoughts, emotions or behavioral activities are out of the normal mode and have different degrees of pathological manifestations, it shows that this person has psychological defects that cannot adapt to the surrounding environment. Such people often have difficulty or lose the ability to control their inner feelings, so it is difficult to adapt to the external environment. At first, they just showed mental disorders. If they don't pay attention to maintaining and enhancing their mental health, they may eventually lead to mental illness. A person who is always "crazy" on weekdays may really go crazy if he doesn't pay attention to mental health problems. A person who always talks about God will never become a schizophrenic unless he pays attention to improving his mental health. This is the reason why a certain quantitative change will be transformed into qualitative change.
What I want to tell you next is that the mental illness I'm talking about here is mainly aimed at those who have slightly abnormal behaviors or behaviors. Generally speaking, mental health is a subject to prevent and treat these people's psychological defects and study how to improve their mental health. Mental health does not study normal behavior and extreme abnormal behavior, because normal behavior and extreme abnormal behavior are studied by other disciplines, such as adolescent psychology and abnormal psychology.
As for the distinction between "normal" and "abnormal", or "normal" and "abnormal", there is a special discussion below. The first thing that can be mentioned here is that the so-called "normal" is an unscientific, inaccurate and abstract concept, and there is no strict boundary between it and "abnormal". Because people's life can't be completely in the ideal normal environment, especially in the period of violent social changes, people's psychological adaptation is often difficult. Everyone's behavior will have some slight variations due to different conditions such as time and place, but there is no big conflict with the surrounding environment, so it can't be classified as "abnormal".
However, if we don't pay attention to these slight anomalies, slight unconventional behavior variations, and let them develop at will, it will have an impact over time. Therefore, from the perspective of nip in the bud, everyone should be good at understanding and grasping themselves, adopt various effective methods and measures, prevent and treat psychological diseases and behavioral ills, and constantly improve the level of mental health.
I believe that if people master the basic knowledge and methods about mental health, it will help to eliminate inner interference and avoid psychological conflicts, thus effectively solving difficulties, successfully overcoming setbacks and overcoming adversity. In order to achieve this goal, each of us should pay attention to physical health care and mental health care.
You may say that mental health is only a personal matter, and has nothing to do with others or society. You are wrong. For example, a person's physical and mental health has little effect on his character. On the contrary, if he is physically sound and mentally defective, it will not only affect his survival value, but also affect the whole family life and social life. Therefore, whether for the fate of individuals, families or nations, each of us should maintain mental health.
