According to the newly revised National Health Insurance Law, South Korea will implement the new rules for foreigners living in South Korea to join the national health insurance from July 16, from the current "voluntary participation" to "compulsory participation". According to the new regulations, foreigners who hold D, E, F, G and H visas and stay in Korea for more than 6 months must join the national health insurance. The insurance premium is calculated according to personal income and property, and shall not be lower than the national average insurance premium of last year 1 1. Foreign students, foreign religious figures and other foreigners without financial resources should pay half of the minimum monthly insurance premium. If the spouse and children under 19 live in the same place as the insured, the insurance premium can be paid by the family.
Foreigners in Korea can enjoy Korean national treatment in medical treatment, hospitalization, intensive care and physical examination after joining the national health insurance. According to relevant requirements, eligible personnel are required to pay the insurance premium for next month before 25th of each month. If it is not paid on time, it may affect the subsequent extension of stay.
