There are many bare legs and branches on the apple trees in the orchard. Should they be trimmed?

When pruning fruit trees, the extra branches are called auxiliary branches. As we know, apple tree structure is divided into trunk, central trunk, backbone branch, auxiliary branch, branch group and fruiting branch. Branches can be divided into vegetative branches, which include developmental branches, overgrowth branches, competitive branches, slender branches and foliage branches. In the process of pruning, unformed apple trees should be shaped into the shape that is most conducive to absorbing nutrients, light and fruit, and formed fruit trees should be slightly pruned to prolong their life cycle.

After pruning in winter, every fruit tree has old branches and diseased branches in spring. Once these branches waste the nutrients of fruit trees, the old branches may become shelters for pests and diseases, and the diseased branches may spread the diseases to the healthy branches with minor injuries and expand the affected area. Cleaning these branches can greatly reduce the probability of fruit tree pests. In the stage of storage nutrition, the growth of branches and buds mainly depends on storage nutrition, root nutrition and water. It is in the stage of bud and ovary cell division, pollination, fertilization and flowering.

Apple pruning is usually like this. In order to ensure that each floor can see sunlight, the whole tree is ventilated and transparent, generally divided into three layers: the first layer generally has 3-4 branches, the second layer has 2-3 branches, and the top layer has a main branch. Decide how much you want to trim. A healthy apple tree with proper pruning should not have any shade, and there should be a big gap between branches. There are three or four buds on each branch. For those strong branches, you can cut them lightly or not. In a word, to ensure the reasonable distribution of flowers and buds of apple trees is beneficial to the quality of autumn fruits.

It is easy to get sunburned when the temperature exceeds 35 degrees in summer, and it is also easy to get sunburned when the temperature difference exceeds 10 degrees in winter. You can make full use of the branches on the back to protect the main branches from sunburn. If necessary, the back strip can be tied to the back of the main branch to avoid direct sunlight. The branches on the back of Wangshu must be cut off, leaving more side branches, so that it is easy to become flowers and lay a good foundation for high yield in the coming year.
