Thinking and Enlightenment on Einstein

What can Einstein's learning style give us?

As the saying goes, "You are old at three, and you are old at seven." The wisdom of the ancients did not deceive me, but was verified step by step by modern science and educational psychology. Throughout the ages, all successful people who have made great achievements in society have had extraordinary talents and unique personalities since childhood. Today, let's take a look at the childhood life of genius Einstein. What enlightenment can it give us?

1.

Einstein was born in a happy and wealthy middle-class family on March 14 1879. His parents have good family conditions and educational background, so his childhood lived in a warm, open and intellectual family atmosphere, which played a benign catalytic role in his growth.

After Einstein was born, the back of his head was unusually large with prominent edges and corners, which made people worry. In particular, he was much later than the average child and didn't speak until he was over three years old, which made his mother deeply worried. His parents also consulted a doctor because they were worried about their children's mental retardation.

But according to Einstein's own memories in his later years, he learned to speak very late because he had the ambition to say complete sentences from the beginning. It is often that he quietly practices a whole sentence to himself first, and will not say it out loud until he is sure that he has said it well. It can be seen that he has the habit of pursuing perfection since he was a child, and he will never give up until he reaches his goal. This may be a big difference between him and other children.

This plot may give young parents a sigh of relief. Although children's growth has a conventional growth index, as long as it is not a pathological problem, each child has its own unique growth rhythm. There is no absolute standard whether it is physical or psychological. As long as the general direction is healthy, achieving the goal earlier or later will not determine the child's life. As long as parents have enough love and patience and accompany their children with a peaceful attitude, it is more conducive to their growth.

2.

Before Einstein went to primary school, his parents once hired a kindergarten tutor. However, the relationship between the governess and Einstein is not good. Einstein was used to being lonely since he was a child, and he liked to play alone, especially immersed in various puzzles. He doesn't like to listen to other people's instructions, and he doesn't like to play any strenuous sports with other children. He always keeps his distance from children of his own age, and seems a little withdrawn, eccentric and unsociable. The governess found it difficult to help him, and even nicknamed him "the nature of disgust". Einstein once threw a chair at his female teacher, which scared her out of teaching him.

Montessori pointed out in "The Growth of Man":

Children don't "listen to a teacher who teaches them and corrects them", but find the guidance of natural laws, that is, they can restore normal operation and show the physiology of the mind to the outside world. This physiology, like the physiology of the body, comes from the inside and from the complicated maze of the soul.

Therefore, for early educators, the most important thing is to respect children's personality, teach students in accordance with their aptitude, create a safe environment suitable for children's independent exploration, and give them companionship and guidance. Instead of instilling knowledge into children through self-righteous educational inertia, it suppresses children's nature of independent inquiry.

3.

Einstein liked to study according to his hobbies since he was a child. What he hates most is that others force him to study. He doesn't want to be driven and controlled by others, so he has developed a strong habit of self-study since he was a child. For example, he started practicing violin at the age of 6, but he didn't like mechanical practice and was not interested. Until 13 years old, after he really fell in love with Mozart's sonatas, he actively improved his playing skills and practiced again and again until he reappeared the unique beauty of the sonatas, so he said, "Hobbies are better teachers than sense of responsibility."

4.

In elementary school, Einstein was the only Jew in his class. But he still likes to think and explore alone, and he still has little contact with his classmates. This is also due to his personality, and it is not that teachers and students discriminate against Jews.

Therefore, if our children are introverted from childhood, they don't like crowds and like quiet thinking, as long as there are no serious social obstacles, it may not be a worrying thing. It is very likely that this child has a rich inner world and has his own unique concern and understanding of this world.

Einstein received his first mathematical enlightenment from his uncle in his early years. During the period of 10- 15, Einstein's parents sponsored a poor Jewish student in a medical university, who taught Einstein mathematics. In just a few months, Einstein taught himself plane geometry and calculus. His talent in mathematics has made him progress so fast that the college student can't catch up with him soon. Einstein could understand Kant's Critique of Pure Reason when he was 13 years old, and he didn't find it difficult to understand it.

5.

Einstein in middle school found that his interest was not in mathematics, but in physics. At this time, Einstein's dream is to become a math or physics teacher in colleges and universities in the future, which will not only ensure him to get a job with guaranteed life and respect, but also enable him to pursue his favorite scientific knowledge at will.

Therefore, only by letting children actively explore their own interest in learning can children build their own dreams for the future and truly stimulate the internal driving force of learning.

If learning is constrained by external forces, it will never last and go deep.

When he arrived at the university, Einstein seldom went to class because of the relatively free school atmosphere. Because of his favorite class, his level of self-study has greatly exceeded the content taught by the teacher, so he doesn't need to listen; He doesn't want to take classes he doesn't like, the longer the better.

Although this way of learning sounds unorthodox, it must be said that the education that truly respects "people" is to actively learn what you are interested in. Because not everyone is interested in all the knowledge, letting everyone learn the same knowledge actually kills the real talent of many people. If everyone can learn what they are interested in, what is really useful to them may be a more "people-oriented" education method. One day in the future, I hope this can come true.

However, at that time, Einstein was able to study hard without being bound by dogma and tradition. Apart from his talent and strong self-confidence, we can only sum it up with genius.

6.

Although Einstein's dream is to be a university teacher, his parents hope that he will take over their company in the future and make it more prosperous. But in the eyes of Einstein, a young man who likes to think quietly, his father's constant pursuit of expanding the scale of the company and setting up new factories is simply a tragedy.

Later, the father went bankrupt completely and could not even support his son to receive higher education. This made Einstein very painful and close to despair. Fortunately, he still worked tirelessly so that he didn't have a nervous breakdown. As a scientific researcher, Einstein has an extraordinary personality, which was manifested in his childhood-that is, even if his life suffered setbacks, he could think and study as undisturbed as possible under extremely unsatisfactory circumstances.

It can be seen that Einstein may have rebelled against his parents when he was young, but this rebellion came from his independent thinking and sober self-cognition. Anyone who has self-awareness and independent mind does not want to accept the fate track arranged by others.

Postscript:

Every child has his own unique inner strength.

For parents, the sooner they know how to respect their children's nature, guide them to learn to explore themselves, let them actively discover their true interests, and learn to be responsible for themselves-that is the real help for their life growth.
