What is the key to prevent tetanus?

Everyone needs to pay attention to his own wound, because if the wound is not treated in time, then this person is likely to have tetanus, which is a disease that will seriously affect people's daily life. What are the methods to prevent tetanus?

Generally speaking, the incubation period of tetanus is 6- 10 days, and the incubation period of a few people will be as long as 1 month. Once tetanus attacks, it is difficult to cure, but the preventive effect is excellent.

Preventive measures mainly include:

1. active immunity vaccination

Injection of tetanus toxoid as antigen can make human body produce antibodies and achieve the purpose of immunity. The basic immunization of toxoid usually requires three injections. 0.5ml was injected subcutaneously for the first time, 0.5ml was injected every 4-6 weeks, and 0.5ml was injected 6- 12 months after the second injection. These three injections are called basic injections. After that, 0.5 ml of toxoid was injected subcutaneously every 5 ~ 7 years as an intensive injection. After the first injection 10 days, the antibody concentration can be effectively protected after 30 days.

2. Passive immunization

This method is suitable for patients who have not received or completed the whole active immunization, but have wound pollution, improper debridement and serious open injury. Tetanus antitoxin serum (TAT) is the most commonly used passive immune preparation, but it has antigenicity and can cause sensitization. The usual dose is 1500U intramuscular injection. If the wound is heavily polluted or damaged for more than 12 hours, the dosage will be doubled, and the effective effect will be maintained for about 10 days. Allergy test should be done before injection. If TAT intradermal test is allergic, it can be injected by desensitization method.

Tetanus is an extremely serious disease with high mortality, especially for newborns and drug addicts. Therefore, active comprehensive treatment measures should be taken, including eliminating the source of toxin, neutralizing free toxin, controlling and relieving spasm, keeping respiratory tract unobstructed and preventing complications.

Now people should know how to prevent themselves from becoming tetanus patients. At the same time, everyone should try to prevent themselves from having wounds, so as to reduce the possibility of getting tetanus. At the same time, patients with tetanus must actively receive treatment in order to recover as soon as possible.
