What is the appearance standard of a healthy cat?

The whole body of the coat should be free of hair loss area, trauma or scab. The fur of sick cats is often rough, dull, thin and weak. If the coat is sparse, uneven, long or short in patches, and there is dander after careful observation, such a cat may suffer from skin diseases. If there are some small black spots on the fur, it means that the cat has fleas.

Eyes are flexible, bright and round, with the same size. The third eyelid, the instantaneous membrane, is not exposed and has no secretion. If the third eyelid is exposed to cover part of the eyeball, it means that the cat is sick. The more the third eyelid is exposed, the more serious the condition is. When you are sick, your eyes will have purulent or serous secretions.

Open the mandible in the mouth to see if there is ulceration, whether the mouth is clean, whether the teeth are tartar, whether the teeth are white, and whether the gums, tongue and palate are pink. A cat's mouth is reddish when it has a fever, pale when it is anemic, and bluish purple when it is seriously ill. If you have bad breath in your mouth, you should pay attention to whether there are ulcers and blisters in your mouth with digestive diseases.

Ears erect (except cats with broken ears), moving freely, ears clean and free from dirt, and sensitive to external sounds. To judge whether the cat's hearing is normal, you can clap your hands gently behind the cat's left and right ears and observe the cat's response to the sound. If you want to know if your cat's ears are sick, you can determine by checking whether there is dark brown earwax in the ears or scratches on the eyes.

The nose has no secretion, and it is cool and moist, so the temperature of the cat can be sensed through the nose. When you are sick, your cat's nose may be hot and dry, even chapped or runny.

The anus and external genitalia are clean, tight and dry. At the same time, check the external genitalia to distinguish male cats from female cats. The method is to let the cat lie on its back with its tail close to its stomach, and judge it according to the distance from the anus to the opening of the external genitalia. If the anus is close to the external genital opening, and the genital opening is triangular or flat, similar to an exclamation point, it is a female cat. If the anus is far away from the external genital opening, and the genital opening is round or nearly round, similar to the colon, it is a male cat.

Breathing cats' breathing is influenced by seasons, temperatures and activities. The normal breathing times of cats are 20 ~ 30 times per minute. If the number of breaths increases or decreases, diseases may occur.

Whether the belly is round and whether there are lumps. Impatience when stroking the stomach indicates that the cat's stomach is uncomfortable.

Whether the gait of the posture cat is stable and flexible when walking, whether the limbs are bent and deformed when standing, whether the posture is beautiful and whether it is normal when lying down. When there is a disease in the limbs, walking is staggered or broken, and standing posture is not correct. Lying down with abdominal pain is unnatural.

2. The choice of long-haired cats and short-haired cats

Long-haired cats and short-haired cats have their own advantages. In the process of choosing a cat, some people may be confused about choosing a long-haired cat or a short-haired cat.

Long-haired cats look like plush toys, which are particularly beautiful. Soft long hair feels particularly comfortable. Short-haired cats are full of energy and radiant, which is really exciting.

Relatively speaking, short-haired cats don't have to spend so much time grooming. But grooming long-haired cats is a headache for you.

If you don't comb the fur of a long-haired cat in time, it will not only look ugly, but also affect the health of the cat. Because cats have the habit of licking their hair, they will unconsciously swallow a lot of hair during licking. After a long time, hair balls will form in the stomach, leading to vomiting.

Many cat owners often worry about flying cat hair at home, but there is no way to avoid it. You need to spend some time cleaning it up. But whether it is a long-haired cat or a short-haired cat, hair loss is inevitable.
